Event Preview Fact Sheet

Event/Date: Ford 300 – November 17, 2007
Venue: Homestead-Miami Speedway – Homestead, Fla.

NOTES:

  • This Week’s Holiday Inn Chevrolet at Homestead-Miami Speedway … Jeff Burton will pilot Chassis No. 073 from the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) stable in this weekend’s Ford 300. Built new in 2007, this is the same Holiday Inn Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS that Burton drove to Victory Lane at California Speedway in September and at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in October. The South Boston, Va., native also drove this chassis to an eighth-place finish at Kansas Speedway after starting fourth.
  • Top of the Charts … Based on Scott Wimmer’s fourth-place finish last week at Phoenix, the No. 29 team maintained a 194-point lead in the NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) owners’ championship point standings. The driving duo of Burton and Wimmer have earned four victories, one pole, 16 top-five and 26 top-10 finishes in 34 starts.
  • Busch Championship … The No. 29 team will claim the NBS owners’ championship this weekend by simply starting the race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. This will be RCR’s fourth NBS owners’ championship.
  • Burton at Homestead … Burton has earned one win, two top-fives and three top-10 finishes in four NBS starts at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
  • Truck Debut … Wimmer will make his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut this weekend in the Nov. 16 Ford 200 at Homestead. He will be behind the wheel of the No. 46 Morgan-Dollar Motorsports entry. The race will air live on SPEED beginning at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST).
  • Look Again … Holiday Inn Racing revved up its fan’s creativity by providing them the opportunity to redesign the No. 29 Holiday Inn Chevrolet for this weekend’s race. Jack Taylor will be on hand in Homestead to see his winning design take to the track. The Texan is a fireman and a college football referee in the Big 12 Conference and Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
  • Can’t Wait ‘til 2008 … The 2008 season will once again feature Wimmer and Burton as co-pilots of the No. 29 Holiday Inn Chevrolet, with Wimmer behind the wheel for 23 races and Burton the remainder of the 35-race schedule. Wimmer will also run a limited schedule of NASCAR Cup Series events next season.
  • RCR Busch Cars at Homestead … In 14 previous Busch Series starts at Homestead, RCR has posted one win (Kevin Harvick, 2004), two poles (Jeff Green, 2002 and Harvick, 2006), three top-five and seven top-10 finishes. RCR cars have also led 306 laps.
  • RCR Busch Brigade … In 34 NBS races this season, RCR has claimed 12 victories with the most recent coming at Texas Motor Speedway with Harvick. He leads the way with six, Burton has four and Clint Bowyer has two. Additionally, the three RCR Busch teams (No. 2, No. 21 and No. 29) have a total of 41 top-five and 60 top-10 finishes while leading 1,383 laps.
  • Leading the Way in Owner Wins … Childress leads the 2007 NBS in owner wins with 12 – tying last year’s season total – the most recent coming two week ago Texas Motor Speedway with Harvick.
  • Catch the Action … Live coverage of the Ford 300 will be televised live on ESPN2 Saturday, November 17 beginning at 4 p.m. EST. The race will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and Sirius Satellite Radio. Qualifying for the final race on the 2007 NBS schedule will be televised live on SPEED the same day beginning at noon EST.

    JEFF BURTON QUOTES:
All you need to do is start the race in Homestead to clinch the NBS owners’ championship. That has to take away some of the pressure.
“I try to think about doing the best that we can do for each race. However, knowing that we just need to start the Holiday Inn Chevrolet takes away the pressure for the owners’ championship but we still want to go out there and win. Scott (Wimmer) has done a tremendous job this year and our Busch program has provided great cars throughout the season. I am excited that we can win this for Richard (Childress) and Holiday Inn.”

Are you happy with your personal performance this year?
“I know that there are areas that I need to be better in and that is clear to me. I believe that I am driving as well as I have ever driven and I think that I am a better driver than I have ever been. I honestly believe that. You can look at the stats and say that I have had better years but I believe that I am a better driver today than I was 10 years ago.”
