Gateway 250 - Cale Gale Notes

Cale Gale
No. 33 Camping World Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS
Team Report
NASCAR Busch Series Race 21 of 35 — Gateway (Ill.) International Raceway

USG DUROCK 300 RACE RECAP: Tony Stewart came into Saturday afternoon’s NASCAR Busch Series race at Chicagoland (Ill.) Speedway as one of the race favorites, and while he came up just short of a first-place finish, the effort was remarkable nonetheless. Using the same car that carried him to a third-place finish earlier this year at the Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway, Stewart found his No. 33 Old Spice Chevrolet to be a handful. Throughout the 200-lap event, Stewart and his crew battled through minor pit road incidents, an ill-handling race car and the extreme summer heat, before crossing the finish line in the eighth position. With his eighth top-10 finish of the year, Stewart keeps the No. 33 Kevin Harvick Inc. Chevrolet in contention for the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series Owner’s Point Championship. The team currently sits in the fifth position, 210 points behind the fourth-place car owner Richard Childress and the No. 21 Chevrolet.

WELCOME BACK CALE ‘KID’ GALE: Cale Gale returns to the NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) with Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) for the fifth time this season. His last start came back at The Milwaukee (Wisc.) Mile, where he battled a tight-handling race car all evening. Gale, who started 28th, drove the No. 33 Camping World Chevrolet to a 23rd-place finish.

FORMER WINNER: The last time Cale Gale raced at the Gateway (Ill.) International Raceway he found himself celebrating in victory lane. Cale in only his second Racing Club of America (ARCA) start held off Steven Wallace to win the Shop n’ Save 150 on July 28, 2006.

RUNNING IT: The No. 33 Camping World team will unload chassis No. 007 this weekend at Gateway (Ill.) International Raceway. This will mark the third race with chassis No. 007 for the No. 33 team in 2007. Earlier this year, Tony Raines drove this chassis to a 21st-place finish at Phoenix (Ariz.) International Raceway, while Tony Stewart backed it up with a fourth-place finish at New Hampshire International Speedway.

TEAM EFFORT: With the help of Cale Gale, Ron Fellows, Tony Raines, Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick, KHI’s No. 33 Chevrolet has been inside the top-10 in NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) Owner’s Point Standings all season long. After 20 races the No. 33 Chevrolet currently sits fifth in the point standings going into Gateway (Ill.) International Raceway.

    CALE GALE QUOTES:
ON GATEWAY: “Gateway is one of my favorite tracks. It is a very different track than most that we race at. It has two completely different sets of corners, which I think is pretty cool. Being a past winner at Gateway I look forward to making my return this weekend for the first time in the NASCAR Busch Series with my No. 33 Camping World Chevrolet.”

    DAN STILLMAN QUOTES:
ON CALE GALE GETTING BACK BEHIND THE WHEEL: “I am very excited about this weekend. Cale is starting to get more seat time, which can only help him build confidence. Cale is a past winner at Gateway (Ill.) International Raceway in the ARCA Series, so I look forward to his second time around, but this time in the Busch Series.”
