NOTES:

  • This Week’s Race Car at Dover International Speedway … Scott Wimmer will pilot Chassis No. 050 from the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) stable. Built new in 2006 and ran as the No. 2 machine, Clint Bowyer drove this chassis last season in February at California (St. 14, Fn. 16), in May at Charlotte (St. 17, Fn. 36), in September at California (St. 1, Fn. 13) and in October in Charlotte (St. 24, Fn. 7). Since then, this Holiday Inn Chevrolet has received all the required 2007 updates. Most recently, the Wausau, Wis., native drove this chassis to a third-place finish at Kentucky after starting 25th.
  • Top of the Charts … Based on Wimmer’s top-10 finish two weeks ago at Richmond, the No. 29 team maintained a 40 point lead in the NASCAR Busch Series owners’ championship point standings. The potent duo of Jeff Burton and Wimmer have earned three victories, one pole, 14 top-five and 21 top-10 finishes in 28 starts.
  • First Wins … Wimmer claimed his first NASCAR Busch Series victory September 2002 at Dover in his 63rd career start. Crew chief Pat Smith also scored his first NASCAR Busch Series win at Dover International Speedway. Burton was behind the wheel of the No. 29 Holiday Inn Chevy for the June 2006 win.
  • Wimmer at Dover … Wimmer has earned one win, three top-five and four top-10 finishes in nine NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) starts at Dover International Speedway and has led 67 laps. This weekend’s race is the 14th of 16 that he is scheduled to drive the Holiday Inn Chevrolet.
  • RCR at Dover … Richard Childress is tied for third all-time for NBS car owner victories with two – Jeff Burton (June 2006) and Clint Bowyer (September 2006). In 31 starts at the one-mile oval, Childress boasts four poles, 10 top-five and 18 top-10 finishes with nine different drivers including Kevin Harvick, Mike Dillon, Mike Skinner, Jeff Green, Johnny Sauter, Ron Hornaday, Jr., Bowyer, Burton and Wimmer.
  • Holiday Inn Double Duty … In addition to the No. 29 Holiday Inn Chevrolet, Wimmer will attempt to qualify RCR’s fourth entry in the NASCAR Cup Series, the No. 33 Holiday Inn Chevrolet Impala SS.
  • Leading the Way in Owner Wins … Richard Childress Racing leads the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series in owner wins with 10 – the most recent coming three weeks ago at California Speedway with Burton.
  • Catch the Action … The RoadLoans.com at Dover International Speedway will be televised live on ESPN2 Saturday, September 22 beginning at 3 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). The race will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and Sirius Satellite Radio. Qualifying for the 29th of 35 races on the 2007 Busch Series calendar will air live on SPEED the same day beginning at noon EDT.

    SCOTT WIMMER QUOTES:
What are your expectations going into Dover?
“I ran the No. 21 AutoZone Chevy back in June, qualified on the outside of the front row and had a really good run. I ran out front all day long and it is probably one of my favorite tracks on my schedule. I like the speed of the track and the banking and the grip. I got my first Busch Series win up there a few years ago so it is a pretty special place. I am looking forward to getting back in the No. 29 Holiday Inn Chevy this weekend and working with (crew chief) Pat (Smith). The Holiday Inn crew has done a great job all year and have been able to get three wins with Jeff (Burton). Hopefully I can collect a few in that car before the end of the year.”

What is it about Dover that you tend to run well?
“I think that Dover is a track that is constantly changing. It doesn’t get run on a lot and the concrete seems to take rubber throughout the weekend and throughout the race. You have to be able to adjust to it and find different lines. One of the great things about Dover is that you can run three- or four-wide in the corner. At Dover you can move around and you can make the bottom or top fast. It is a good track for finding different lanes and that makes for competitive racing.”
