Richmond Disappointment
Disappointment was felt by the Hefty® Race Team at Richmond International Raceway as handling problems would not allow them to crack the starting field for the Circuit City 250 presented by FUNAI.
On a positive note, the Virginia Tech tribute helmet will be worn by Eric McClure for the remainder of the 2007 Busch Series season and auctioned off at the end of the year for the VT Memorial Fund.
Darlington Fast Facts: The Track that’s “Too Tough To Tame”
McClure, who is considered a “Rookie” at the 1.366 mile egg-shaped oval, will attempt to tame the raceway that is deemed “Too Tough to Tame” this Mother’s Day weekend.
The Diamond Hill Plywood 200 will be McClure’s 25th NASCAR Busch Series event and 10th of the 2007 season.
The Emory and Henry College Graduate must qualify on time as he is not locked in to the valued top-30 in Busch Series

Eric McClure, driver of the No. 0 Hefty® Chevrolet quotes:
(On the importance of avoiding the Darlington Stripe)
“Is it possible to avoid it? In 2005, I got one on my first or second lap of practice. The walls at Darlington are funky. It seems like they just reach out and grab you, and hold on to your car. You can’t get away. Just like your wife when she’s mad. Hopefully we can stay out of the wall and get qualified.
(On last weekend’s disappointment and outlook on remainder of season)
“I’m still bitter about last weekend. We have no excuses and deserved to miss the show the way we performed. All we can do now is move on, suck it up and try to make each event one at a time. Forget the top 30 in points, we have to make as many as we can. There are some big events coming up, with a lot of extra cup-affiliated cars, so we will have to overcome a lot to make the races. The deck is certainly stacked against us with resources and such, but we’ll work hard and see what we can do.”
