Winn-Dixie 250 - WIX Filters Lap Leader Notes

WIX FILTERS LAP LEADER NOTES FOR THE WINN-DIXIE 250 NASCAR BUSCH SERIES RACE AT DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY, JULY 7, 2007.

  • Robert Richardson Jr. earned WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in today’s Winn-Dixie 250. Richardson Jr. led once for one lap, the first lap he has led in nine-career Busch Series starts. He scored a 26th-place finish completing all 102 laps of the race.
  • Richardson Jr. is a Raybestos Rookie in the NASCAR Busch Series. He is the sixth different driver to earn WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in the last six races.
  • Mike Wallace leads Jason Leffler by one race (4-3) in the overall WIX Filters Lap Leader Standings.
  • RICHARDSON JR. QUOTES: “I’m pretty wore out right now but to lead a lap at Daytona is awesome. That’s something that I can say that I’ve done whether my racing career goes on past this year or not. I out-qualified Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kerry Earnhardt, J.J. Yeley and started right beside Bobby Labonte so this was a trip, coming to Daytona. I love coming to Daytona. I love coming here and I love going to Talladega and these restrictor plate races. That’s where I seem to strive the best. It was an awesome day. We finished two positions ahead of where we finished here earlier in the year. To come here and finish better than where you started from the first race, that’s what a Raybestos Rookie is supposed to do.” HOW IMPORTANT IS IT FOR SOMETHING POSITIVE TO HAPPEN TO A LITTLE TEAM LIKE THIS? “Winning the WIX award definitely builds the camaraderie of the team and that’s what this sport is all about: teamwork and trusting your teammates, crew chiefs and your crew members. I think that definitely helped us as far as the past couple of weeks that we’ve had. We’ve had some bad luck. We’ll use this as another step up and hopefully start climbing that ladder again.”
  • This is the second time in nine starts this season that Richardson Jr. has finished on the lead lap. He scored a 19th-place finish on the lead lap at Talladega (race No. 10).
