SCOTT WIMMER QUOTES:
You are friends with the Harvicks. How do you feel about driving for Kevin and DeLana? “I am really excited to go out to California to drive for the Harvicks and Dollar General. KHI has had a lot of success this year with both cars and I hope to add to that. Kevin and I have always talked about me driving on his cars, so I’m grateful for the opportunity and really want to have a strong run for them. They put a lot of effort into the Truck and Busch Series programs and want to see them succeed.”
What are some of the characteristics that you like about California Speedway? “There are several different lanes for racing at California Speedway. It is probably one of the widest tracks that we have on the Busch Series schedule and it seems like we can have four good lanes of racing there. If you get your car running right at California Speedway then you have several grooves to run in. The fans are great out there and it is an exciting weekend being in that market.”
What is the key to a strong finish at California Speedway? “You have to have a lot of things go right for you at California Speedway. You need to have a good aero program and a good engine. Pit stops are very important as well as track position. If you look at past races there, the guy that can get out front will ultimately win the race or have a good finish. We will work really hard on our car during practice and hopefully we can qualify well. The key is keeping it out front all day.”
CREW CHIEF CORNER WITH WALLY ROGERS:
As a crew chief, what is your record at California Speedway? “I really enjoy going to California Speedway. It’s a track that is wide with plenty of room to race and find a groove that is comfortable for the driver. Just looking at my history from last year as a crew chief at Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI), both Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart drove my car, and each finished in the top-10.”
