Hamlin Back on Track: Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) development driver Kevin Hamlin will make his eighth start of the 2007 season at California Speedway this weekend. Hamlin has been racing a limited schedule this year in the No. 42 CGRFS Busch Dodge. He will race with the purple colors of Memorex on board in Saturday night’s Camping World 300. The race will mark his 23rd career NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) start and only his second run at the 2-mile, D-shaped Fontana area race track.
California Native: Memorex Team rear-tire changer Daryl Lockyer is a native of the Los Angeles, Calif., area. He has been a tire changer for 13 years and a member of the CGRFS team for three years. Before joining the NASCAR ranks, he grew up 30 minutes from California Speedway and built cars for fellow California native and racer Ron Hornaday Jr.
Chassis: Crew chief Brian Pattie and team are racing chassis #756 this weekend in Fontana. It is a new race car that has only been entered in one other race this year and that was at Kentucky Speedway in June when David Stremme and team raced their way from 27th-place starting position to a fourth-place finish.
Standings Update: Stremme’s top-15 finish in this past Friday night’s Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway helped the No. 42 CGRFS Busch team advance three steps forward in the overall Busch Series owner standings, where the crew is now listed 19th with a current tally of 2,616 points. The CGRFS team is 88 points outside of the top 15 and 225 away from the top 10.
