Camping World 300 - Kevin Harvick Notes

Kevin Harvick/No. 33 RoadLoans.com
Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Team Report
NASCAR Busch Series Race 27 of 35: California Speedway

Food City 250 RECAP: With Kevin Harvick behind the wheel, the No. 33 Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) RoadLoans.com Chevrolet Monte Carlo finished 16th in Friday night’s Food City 250 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway. After starting the race in the sixth position, Harvick battled a loose-handling car for most of the night. On lap 132, trying to avoid spinning cars in front of him, Harvick suffered right side damage after hitting the outside wall. The team worked hard all night making repairs and adjustments. After a strong effort, the No. 33 RoadLoans.com Chevrolet ended the night with a 16th-place finish.

BUILDING STATS: When Kevin Harvick takes to the track Saturday for the Camping World 300, he will be making his 10th NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) start at California Speedway. In his nine previous NBS starts, Harvick has one pole, five top-five and eight top-10 finishes. In addition, Harvick has completed 1349 of 1350 possible laps at California Speedway, a 99.9% rating for laps complete.

LOOKING FOR WIN NO. 1: Harvick will not only be looking for his first Busch Series win at California Speedway Saturday, but he will also be looking for his first win in a Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) Busch Series car. Harvick has two truck wins for KHI, and is now looking to add a NBS win for KHI to his resume. A win Saturday would also mark the first win of the season for the No. 33 KHI Busch Series team.

DOUBLE DUTY: In addition to running the NBS Camping World 300 on Saturday, Harvick will also pilot the No. 29 Shell/Pennzoil Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing (RCR) during Sunday’s NASCAR Nextel Cup Series (NNCS) event, The Sharp Aquos 500. Harvick enters Sunday’s race 10th in the NNCS driver points, with only one race remaining after California to secure a spot in the Chase for the Nextel Cup.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 33 RoadLoans.com team will unload Chassis No. 36 at California Speedway for the Camping World 300. Chassis No. 36 made its debut earlier this year at Michigan International Speedway with Tony Stewart behind the wheel.

BACK WHERE I COME FROM: Harvick will return home to California for this weekend’s Camping World 300. Prior to the race on Saturday, the Bakersfield, Calif. native will take time on Thursday to attend a fund raiser “A Night with Kevin Harvick,” at Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace which will benefit the Kern County High School Racing Series. The inaugural event will include a silent auction with items from Harvick and several of his fellow NASCAR drivers, dinner by the Crystal Palace, a program featuring Harvick, Mayor Harvey Hall, and other distinguished guests, followed by live music and dancing.

Also returning home to California will be Greg Hinkfus of the No. 33 RoadLoans.com team. The Thousand Oaks, Calif. native is a shock specialist for KHI, but while at the track his duties also include catch can responsibilities for the No. 33 RoadLoans.com team. Prior to joining KHI, Hinkfus worked for Roush Racing as a mechanic. Like the rest of the No. 33 team, Hinkfus is looking forward to a great run at California and leaving with the first win of the season for the No. 33 RoadLoans.com Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

BAKERSFIELD APPEARANCE: Harvick will sign autographs Thursday, August 30 from 1:10 to 3:00 p.m., at the Bakersfield Camping World store. One autograph per person will be available to the first 300 in line.

Kevin Harvick Quotes:
DO YOU CONSIDER CALIFORNIA YOUR HOME TRACK? “Definitely, I grew up in Bakersfield, (Calif.) so clearly I remember watching races at Riverside and Ontario. It is always fun to come back to California and race in front of my family and friends.”

Dan Stillman Quotes:
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR CHANCES AT CALIFORNIA SPEEDWAY? “I feel like we have as good of a shot this weekend as anyone else. Kevin (Harvick) was behind the wheel last time we were in California, where we finished sixth. These guys on this team have worked hard throughout the year and hopefully this week Kevin can not only pass Jack Ingram for second-place all time in Busch Series wins, but get this No. 33 team their first win of the season.”
