Kertus Davis
No. 77 Dollar General Stores Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS
Team Report
NASCAR Busch Series Race 2 of 35—California Speedway
CALIFORNIA SPEEDWAY FACTS & STATS—
Kertus Davis has made four starts at California Speedway in his five year career history in the NASCAR Busch Series.
“I definitely like running at California Speedway,” said Kertus Davis. The No. 77 Dollar General stores Chevrolet should have a pretty stout run on the west coast. I race every week to win; but undoubtedly the Dollar General stores team has a top-15 finished locked in. We just need to keep getting top-10 and top-15 place finishes and building points for the owner points championship.”
Birthday Boy—Kertus Davis will celebrate his 26th birthday on Monday, February 26th.
CREW CHIEF CORNER WITH WALLY ROGERS—“I like California,” said Wally Rogers, crew chief of the No. 77 Dollar General stores Chevrolet. “It’s a wide track with lots of room to race. It is one of the few tracks that the NASCAR Busch Series travels to that involve all three components…the car, driver and motor.”
“I’m really excited to have Kertus Davis in the Dollar General stores car this weekend. Judging from the Busch test in Las Vegas (Nev.), California Speedway is a track where Kertus could really strut his stuff. Kertus was able to test this car at the Las Vegas (Nev.) test; the car responded good to the changes and was comfortable for him.”
TEAMWORK—Teammates Kertus Davis and Bobby Labonte chat in the No. 77 Dollar General stores hauler following qualifying at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. Davis and Labonte have had time to communicate about the No. 77 Chevrolet throughout the off-season at the Daytona (Fla.) and Las Vegas (Nev.) Busch Series test sessions.
“I had the opportunity to spot for Bobby at the Vegas test,” said Kertus Davis. “Spotting is a tremendous help for a driver. It gave me as a driver a different perspective of the track and how the No. 77 was getting around. I know that I trust another driver as a spotter, because they aren’t going to put me in a position that they wouldn’t want to be in.”
