LEFFLER LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING BACK TO REAL RACING

  • Leffler, a native of Long Beach, Calif., has one goal in mind when he returns to his home track this weekend – giving Toyota its first Busch Series win. Last weekend at Daytona, Leffler led the first laps led by a Toyota Camry in a NASCAR Busch Series points race.
  • In six career NASCAR Busch Series starts at California, Leffler has one pole (2004) and two top-10 finishes (10th in fall 2004 and 7th in fall 2005.)
  • Leffler has one Craftsman Truck Series start at California, posting a second place finish in 2002 after starting eighth.

    LEFFLER ON CALIFORNIA SPEEDWAY:
“I always look forward to the chance to get back to the west coast but this weekend I’m just excited about getting back to racing. Daytona is really its own beast where all you can do is cross your fingers and hope you come home unscathed. It really doesn’t matter if you have a great race car or a mediocre race car, it’s more about the luck you are dealt. It’s the California race where you really feel like your season begins. Your performance in this race will be a pretty good indicator of where you stand in comparison with everyone else and what areas you need to work on for the first part of the season. As for our chances this weekend, I feel very confident that we will have a strong car that will be able to qualify up front and be able to contend for the win. The benefits we have seen already through our new association with Toyota have been tremendous and I expect that the results of that will begin to show this weekend.”

    EQUIPMENT INFORMATION:
The No. 38 Great Clips team will compete with chassis # 15 in this weekend’s Stater Bros. 300. Converted into a Toyota Camry over the off-season, this is the same chassis Leffler drove in several events last season including two top-10 finishes at Atlanta (6th) and Dover – fall (5th).
