USG Durock 300 - Rookie Friday Quotes

Raybestos Rookie Brad Keselowski was named to drive the No. 88 U.S. NAVY Chevrolet for car owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. for the next three races. Keselowski will make his debut for the team in Saturday’s race at Chicagoland Speedway. He spoke about his new opportunity prior to Busch Series practice this afternoon.

BRAD KESELOWSKI, No. 88 U.S. NAVY CHEVROLET: THE LAST FEW WEEKS MUST HAVE BEEN A WHIRLWIND FOR YOU. “The last three weeks have been pretty crazy. The start of that three weeks was at Milwaukee where basically I had no job at all and didn’t really know what I was going to do. And then to get the opportunity that I got at Memphis with the Germain team, just didn’t quite get the finish out of it we wanted. Then from there it’s just progressed to this at JR Motorsports in the No.88 NAVY car. I’m looking to make the most of it just like I was able to do at Memphis.” WAS THERE ONE SPECIFIC THING THAT YOU DID TO GET THE CAR OWNER’S ATTENTION OR WAS IT A COMBINATION OF THINGS? “From what I can tell I would say it’s just making the most out of every opportunity, whether it’s not a good opportunity or it is, just making the most of it. We have the same goals here.” HAS DALE EARNHARDT JR. TRIED TO TAKE SOME OF THE PRESSURE OFF? “A little bit, yeah, but I think we’re really on the same page as far as trying to make the most out of what we have. As a racer you kind of have to have a bottom line of the best finish that you’re going to get is making the most of what you have to work with without wrecking it. And we’re both on the same page as far as that goes.” WHAT WOULD BE A GOOD WEEEKEND FOR YOU? “I kind of set a goal for myself for the next three weeks to bring the car home all three weeks and try to get at least one top-10 out of it. That’s my goal.” IS THIS ARRANGEMENT JUST FOR THE NEXT THREE RACES? “We’ll figure it out as we go. We’ll see how well we’re clicking and working together. I think there’s a lot of interest between us two. This is a good way to feel each other out.”
