USG Durock 300 - Kyle Busch Notes

PREVIEW: KYLE BUSCH (NO. 5 DELPHI CHEVROLET)
VENUE: CHICAGOLAND SPEEDWAY (1.5-MILE TRI-OVAL)
CIRCUIT: NASCAR BUSCH SERIES (RACE 20 OF 35)
EVENT: SATURDAY, JULY 14, 2007 (200 LAPS, 300 MILES)

FINALLY, A VICTORY: Kyle Busch earned his first victory of the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series season Saturday at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, starting 14th and leading 65 laps of the 102-lap race. Busch had been poised to win several races this season, leading the most laps at Daytona in February, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway, but had not earned the elusive win until last weekend.

BUSCH'S BUSCH WINS: With last weekend's victory, Busch has now earned eight career Busch Series wins. Prior to Saturday's Daytona triumph, his most recent was at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway in March 2006.

CHICAGO HISTORY: Busch has led a total of 50 laps in three career Busch Series starts at Chicagoland Speedway. While he hasn't yet broken into the top 10 in a Busch Series car, Busch did finish third in the NEXTEL Cup race at the 1.5-mile speedway last year.

LAP LEADER: Although he has only competed in 11 Busch Series races this season, Busch has led 601 laps, closing in on current point leader Carl Edwards. Edwards has led 648 laps while running a full Busch Series schedule in 2007.

DELPHI LOOKING FOR TWO IN A ROW: Delphi, a leading global supplier of mobile electronics and transportation systems, will be back on the hood of the No. 5 Busch Series Chevrolet this weekend. Delphi was the primary sponsor last weekend at Daytona International Speedway when Busch took the No. 5 Chevrolet to victory lane for the first time this season.

CHASSIS 356: Crew chief Mike Bumgarner has selected Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 356 for Saturday's Busch Series race at Chicagoland Speedway. Busch earned the pole position and led 143 laps in the car before finishing third at Atlanta Motor Speedway in March. In May, Mark Martin drove Chassis 356 to a runner-up finish at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway.

KYLE BUSCH, DRIVER OF THE NO. 5 DELPHI CHEVROLET: (ON GETTING HIS FIRST BUSCH SERIES WIN AT DAYTONA LAST WEEKEND.) "They've (the No. 5 Busch Series team) been striving so hard to get a win this year. That's all this team wants to do because we're not really running for points. To be able to finally get that win is worthwhile, of course. The Delphi Chevrolet was great all day. Nearly perfect, actually. The guys back at the shop just got this car done in time for the weekend. It's an absolutely awesome car. I had all the confidence in the world in my pit crew every time I came down pit road. They had awesome stops. To win at Daytona, you have to keep the mistakes to a minimum and we basically had no mistakes all day. It was just a perfect day for this team."

BUSCH: (ON HIS PAST PERFORMANCES AT CHICAGOLAND.) "We've run well there in the Busch car, but we've never finished well. In 2004, I think I qualified second to Bobby Hamilton Jr. and then he broke and I was leading the race in a dominant car. Then something happened to us. We had a tire go down or something, where we had to come in and change tires. We went a lap down and got it back. Then we started to come back through, either got caught up in a wreck or didn't finish very well or something. But Cup was tough for me too there. Last year, we figured it out a little bit. We finished third. We were running the top side, so that was pretty good for us. Chicago is a fun place. I like going there. It's a neat race track, especially now being able to run from the bottom to the top really helps."
