Jason Leffler posted the 23rd-fastest qualifying lap and was the highest qualifying Toyota Camry driver for Sunday's
NASCAR Busch Series Telcel-Motorola 200 in Mexico City with a lap time of 1:29.758 (100.992 mph) in the No. 38
Great Clips Camry for Braun Racing. Leffler finished 17th in the 2006 event at the venue after starting 40th.
David Reutimann qualified 25th in the No. 99 Aaron's Dream Machine Toyota Camry with a lap at 1:29.808 (100.935
mph), but will start from the rear of the field as a result of a pre-qualifying engine change.
Dave Blaney qualified 31st in the No. 10 Fan1st.com Camry at 1:30.084 (100.626 mph) for Braun Racing.
Scott Pruett, who was victorious in the 24 Hours of Daytona earlier this year with a TRD-built Lexus engine, scored the
Telcel-Motorola 200 pole with a lap at 1:27.458 (103.647 mph).
Qualifying for the Telcel-Motorola 200 was completed in groups, with each group of cars given approximately six
minutes on the 2.518-mile, eight-turn road course to record their fastest lap time. The groups were broken down based
on Friday afternoon's practice speeds.
JASON LEFFLER, No. 38 Great Clips Toyota Camry, Braun Racing
On qualifying:
"Our car is really good but I think I might have pushed the car a little too much in qualifying. We'll be good tomorrow
for the race. The track is slick but that isn't something I can point to because the other guys are just as fast. We were a
little loose and free out there, but we should be fine come tomorrow."
DAVID REUTIMANN, No. 99 Aaron's Dream Machine Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing
On his qualifying effort:
"We ran about as fast as we expected. We have to get into the race tomorrow and see what happens. The big thing
tomorrow is to keep it on the track. That will be my main goal. I've learned quite a bit about how to drive these cars on a
road course but it will be a different deal when all the cars are out there battling in the race tomorrow."
On the pre-qualifying engine change:
"The motor was running fine, but we just found something that could've been a problem later and we didn't want to take
any chances. The power here seems to be good and I think the Camry will be good in the race tomorrow."
DAVE BLANEY, No. 10 Fan1st.com Toyota Camry, Braun Racing
On the qualifying run:
"That's about all we expected to get out of the car for qualifying. We only ran one lap on the car in yesterday's late
session, so we weren't quite sure what we'd have for today. We still have to make a few changes during the first couple
of pit stops tomorrow to make it better. We wanted to get three or four good laps and get a feel for how it's going to go.
We were loose in the left-handers and tight in the right-handers, but that's a common thing. It's tough to find the balance
where the car likes to turn both ways. We have some things to look at and some things to work on, but I think we'll be
fine."
