  • South of the Border … RCR has earned two top-five and three top-10 finishes in the first two NASCAR Busch Series races (2005-06) at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Kevin Harvick finished second in 2005 and third in 2006, and Clint Bowyer finished seventh in 2005.
  • P.J. Overview … P.J. Jones has numerous starts in all three of NASCAR’s top series, including 20 Busch Series starts since 2000. The California native has also started two Indianapolis 500s (2004, 2006), more than 50 Champ Car races and multiple sports car races.
  • Family Ties … P.J. Jones’ father, the legendary Parnelli Jones, earned numerous victories in all forms of motorsports, including the 1963 Indianapolis 500.
  • Three’s Company … P.J. Jones is the third driver in three races for the No. 21 AutoZone team. Kevin Harvick won the season-opener at Daytona International Speedway and Timothy Peters was the highest-finishing rookie and non-NEXTEL Cup Series driver (17th) at California Speedway. Harvick is scheduled to be back behind the wheel for the next two races and Peters the following four.

  • Road Warriors … Just like 2006, the start to the 2007 Busch Series season will be grueling for the NASCAR Busch Series teams. The transporter drivers will carry much of the load as they’ll travel from Daytona Beach, Fla., to Fontana, Calif., to Mexico City, to Las Vegas, and finally to Atlanta before finally returning home to North Carolina. In all, the truck drivers will spend 24 days and approximately 11,500 miles on the road.
  • Catch the Action … The Telcel-Motorola Mexico 200 at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez will be televised live on ESPN2 on Sunday, March 4 beginning at 2:00 p.m Eastern Standard Time (EST). The race will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio. Qualifying for the third of 35 races will air live on ESPN2 on Saturday, March 3, beginning at Noon EST.

    P.J. JONES QUOTES:
“I had an opportunity to drive for RCR three or four years ago but had to turn it down because I already had a commitment to drive for someone else. Turning Richard down was like sticking a knife in me so I’m glad he’s giving me another chance.

“The Mexican fans love their racing and it’s a great track for the NASCAR Busch Series. Adrian Fernandez and I were teammates in the CART Series so I’ve had a good dose of Mexican fans and am excited about racing down there.”
