Wimmer Looking for Truck, Busch Ride at Daytona
In the up-and-down world of professional racing, Chris Wimmer has seen both the highs and the lows. After riding the high and planning on participating in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series test session at Daytona International Speedway January 12th – January 14th, the Wausau, Wis., native said that might not happen now.
“It’s really frustrating,“ he continued, never having run a full season with a well-funded team. “It seems like every time I get close to getting a deal done, something comes along to through a monkey wrench in the works. I’m a positive person, though. I know if I keep plugging away, something will come along.”
Wimmer went on to say while he’s had the opportunities to work with some great people within the sport, the chance to race in top-notch equipment hasn’t been there.
“I’ve had some great finishes in the Truck Series, but I think the best is yet to come. Right now, I’m just looking for a Busch or Truck ride at Daytona. It’s no fun watching the NASCAR season start and you’re on the sidelines. I’m hoping there’s someone out there willing to give me a shot for at least the race at Daytona. Then we’ll go from there.”
Organizations interested in contacting Wimmer should call Wimmer Racing and ask for Ron at (715) 571-4434 or e-mail wimm25@wimmerracing.com.
