Bowyer Wants a Win in Texas
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (Oct. 31, 2006) – Clint Bowyer and his ACDelco race team would like to add another victory to their impressive NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) roster before the 2006 season is over. They need to hurry, because this weekend’s O’Reilly 300 in the Lone Star State is number 33 of 35 NBS races slated for the No. 2 ACDelco/Timberland PRO team.
Last weekend at Memphis Motorsports Park, Bowyer finished in the runner-up position behind his Richard Childress Racing (RCR) teammate Kevin Harvick. Although it was a great finish for the No. 2 Chevy, Bowyer said that it was hard for the team to run second to their teammate. “You expect to run good every week, but when you start struggling and sitting there watching your teammates on the No. 21 car winning a bunch of races, it starts to beat up on you,” Bowyer said. “It’s just frustrating and you start to wonder when your next win is coming. To get that win in Dover and to get that off our shoulders was a breath of fresh air and hopefully we can continue and get us another one by the end of the year.”
Bowyer and the ACDelco team have finished in the second spot five times this season, but they are eager to get another win and Texas Motor Speedway feels like the perfect spot.

Now that we are down to the last three races, how do you think running in both the Busch and Cup Series has affected you?
“I’m learning a lot and it’s doing what it’s supposed to be doing, and I’m having a lot of fun with it. We finally got our first win of the season in the ACDelco Chevrolet and I think that was important. A win just does so much for the confidence of the guys and the momentum we carry from track to track. We ran well again at Kansas and Memphis in the Busch car. It’s important to have that confidence every week, knowing that you can do that.”
Points of Interest…
Timberland PRO Series…Bowyer will be piloting the No. 2 Timberland PRO Series Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS this weekend. He drove the special paint scheme last season for the fall Texas Motor Speedway Busch Series race as well, coming home seventh after stating in the 20th spot.
Track Stats…In four appearances at Texas Motor Speedway, Bowyer has qualified sixth, 29th, 20th, and 37th, respectively. He went on to finish 36th, sixth, seventh, and 18th. His average starting position is 23rd and his average finish is 16.75.
Laps Led…The ACDelco race team ranks fifth in the number of laps led among all drivers in the 2006 NASCAR Busch Series this season, with a total of 529 laps in the 29 times they have been out front.
Points Chase…Bowyer held on to third place in the NASCAR Busch Series driver point standings after his second-place finish at Memphis Motorsports Park. He is now 857 points behind his RCR teammate and points leader Kevin Harvick, but only 67 points behind second place Carl Edwards.
Triple Header…ACDelco driver Bowyer will also compete in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race on Nov. 5 for RCR in the No. 07 Jack Daniel’s Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS. He ranks 18th in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series point standings, 823 points behind 11th place Tony Stewart. The Emporia, Kan., native will also compete in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race behind the wheel of David Dollar’s No. 46 Jack Daniel’s Chevrolet Silverado on Nov. 3.
What Ya’ Haulin’…The Real Car Guys will take chassis No. 27 to Texas Motor Speedway this weekend, a chassis they have run twice this season. The first start came at Chicagoland Speedway on July 8, where they started 20th and finished seventh. Most recently, they started ninth and finished fifth at Kansas Speedway on Sept. 30. Last season, Bowyer raced this chassis seven times, capturing one win at Nashville Superspeedway, two top-five finishes and five top-10 finishes. He has also qualified on the outside pole with it at Richmond International Raceway in May (2005).
Record Holder…Bowyer holds the record for most consecutive NASCAR Busch Series races running at the finish. He has completed 57 straight races, beginning at Darlington in 2005.
Start Time…The O’Reilly 300 at Texas Motor Speedway is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. EST Nov. 4. Live television coverage of the 200-lap event will begin at 2:00 p.m. EST on TNT, with live radio coverage beginning at the same time on your local PRN radio affiliate and XM Satellite Radio (channel 144).
