O'Reilly Challenge - Texas Motor Speedway

Harvick Continues to Dominate Busch Series, Claims Ninth Win
Kevin Harvick put together another dominant performance, leading 145 of 200 laps in route to winning the O’Reilly Challenge 300 at Texas Motor Speedway. Harvick has won both races since clinching the 2006 NASCAR Busch Series championship at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. This win was yet another highlight in what has been one of the top seasons in NASCAR Busch Series history. Harvick now has nine wins in 2006, one short of the series record set by Sam Ard in 1983. The finish was his 30th top-10 finish of the year (in 32 races), tying Ard for most top-10 finishes in one season (1983). Harvick can top Ard’s win record by taking the checkered flag at Phoenix next weekend and then the season final at Homestead. Although Harvick’s car was one of the fastest on the track, he needed some fuel-mileage luck to hold off Tony Stewart. Crew chief Shane Wilson had warned Harvick to save gas near the end of the race – he ran out at the start/finish line. “Its just been one of those years where everything has gone right,” Harvick said. “That was way close,” said Shane Wilson, Harvick’s crew chief. “I probably shouldn’t have been that aggressive, but we said we were going to try to win as many of these last three (races) as we can and we did it today.” Stewart finished second ahead of Jeff Burton, Mark Martin and Ron Hornaday. Juan Pablo Montoya, running his second career NASCAR Busch Series race finished 28th, three laps off the pace. He finished 11th in last week’s debut at Memphis Motorsports Park.
