Team Report
NASCAR Busch Series Race 28 of 35--Richmond International Raceway
RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY FACTS & STATS:
Teams spent over 20 hours at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway earlier this season for the Friday night race under the lights. Lamar started his first Dollar General stores Chevrolet 24th on the grid and was driving towards the front picking off positions. Before the field had completed 30 laps of the 250-lap event, the field had been stopped on pit road for inclement weather under a red-flag condition. Lamar fell back to 35th position on the track, but held on and was solid throughout the remainder of the event. Lamar’s No. 77 Dollar General stores Chevrolet sustained body damage and ended the night in the 27th-position.
Lamar is currently 18th in NASCAR Busch Series driver points. Lamar is 22-points back from 16th position and 1,719 points behind team owner and Busch Series points leader, Kevin Harvick.
In the rookie class Lamar holds the top finishing position, with his second-place finish at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway this February. Lamar earned the top finishing rookie of the race honors for the fifth time at California Speedway. Lamar was also top finishing rookie at Daytona (Fla.), Atlanta (Ga.), Nashville (Tenn.) and Gateway (Ill.)
The No. 77 Dollar General Chevrolet stores team owner, DeLana Harvick, is 21st in Owner points, 15-points back from 20th-place and 1,628 points behind the leader.
QUOTES:
The Busch Series will be returning to Richmond (Va.) International Raceway this weekend… tell me your thoughts…
“I love going to tracks that I’ve had some experience on; this will be the second time I’ve visited Richmond (Va.) International Raceway. The Dollar General stores crew is loading up car number 25 for this weekend, it’s a good car and it will show on the track. We brought a good car to Richmond the last time we visited, but we got caught up and had some damage to the Dollar General stores car.”
“What I’m really looking forward to is this being the last race that Gene Nead, my crew chief, is on probation. The Dollar General stores crew is awesome, but we need our leader back.”

LAMAR TOP FINISHING ROOKIE IN CALIFORNIA: Burney Lamar finished 14th at the California Speedway and took the Raybestos Rookie of the Race honors for the fifth time this season. “It was a good run. I owe a lot of it to the Dollar General stores team. We didn’t get the car as good as we could have in practice. Fortunately, we had Tony Stewart and Wally Rogers to bounce ideas off of. We came up with a pretty good setup. We were pretty free the whole race. We had good pit strategy and with the whole Dollar General stores team working hard we were able to sort of get up there at the end.”
