Four Fun Facts about Auggie Vidovich and the “Quad Squad”

1. Auggie Attracts More Media Attention:
Auggie Vidovich has been a busy man, entertaining interviews from local, state, and national media. Vidovich recently took part in a 20-minute interview with 610 Sports out of Kansas City, Kan. which broadcasts live to six states including Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska. This afternoon, Vidovich will take part in a taped interview with another Kansas-based radio program called the Tom Vandelay Show.

2. A Tribute to FDNY Firefighters:
Auggie Vidovich and the GEICO Racing team will run a FDNY decal on the No. 4 GEICO Dodge this weekend as a tribute to the fallen firefighters following the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Vidovich and the GEICO Racing team share a special connection with firefighters as Competition Director and General Manager, Mike Harvick, is a retired firefighter from Southern California. The American Flag will also adorn the GEICO Dodge this weekend to honor everyone affected by the tragic events of 9/11.

3. Close to Home for GEICO:
GEICO, one of the nation’s leading providers of insurance products and services, is headquartered in Chevy Chase, Md. and is only a short drive from Richmond International Raceway. GEICO, which embarked on its first NASCAR sponsorship in 2001 at Richmond International Raceway as a sponsor of Kenny Wallace’s No. 27 Nextel Cup Series car, returns as a proud sponsor of Auggie Vidovich and the No. 4 Dodge in the NASCAR Busch Series. GEICO has been the primary sponsor of the No. 4 GEICO Dodge for nearly four and a half seasons.

4. From Tractors to the Short Track:
Biagi DenBeste Racing’s co-owner, Fred Biagi, also owns Biagi Bros. Inc., a family-owned trucking and warehouse operation headquartered in Napa, Calif. But less than an hour away from Richmond International Raceway is another terminal, located in Williamsburg, Va. The Williamsburg facility offers inter and intrastate common carrying, nationwide. Biagi Bros. Inc. also has three facilities serving California, and facilities in Arizona, Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Florida, and Washington. For more information on Biagi Bros. Inc., please visit biagibros.com.

Auggie’s Second-Best Qualifying Effort Goes up in Smoke at California:
Auggie Vidovich had an exciting week leading up to the NASCAR Busch Series running of the Ameriquest 300 at California Speedway on Saturday, but after qualifying 14th, all of the excitement went up in smoke when a parts failure caused the engine to expire in the No. 4 GEICO Dodge just six laps into the 150-lap race. The week started with Vidovich playing groomsman in a friends wedding. Then on Friday night, he won the Bud pole award and led nearly half of the NASCAR Grand National Division, AutoZone West Series race at California Speedway. Then on Saturday morning, Vidovich played a leading role in NASCAR’s version of the "breakfast club" which was a special media one-on-one session with Busch Series racers from California. Vidovich was interviewed by local, state and national members of the media including XM Satellite Radio and the Sacramento Bee before strapping into the GEICO Dodge.
