Basha's Supermarkets 200 - John Andretti Notes

ANDRETTI AND THE #10 FREEDOMROADS TEAM HOPE TO END THEIR DROUGHT THIS WEEKEND IN THE DESERT

  • After getting caught in a mid-race wreck last weekend in Nashville, Andretti and the #10 team had to fight hard to bring home a less than desired 28th place finish. Losing ground in the points, the team is now focused on making it up in Phoenix. Confident solid finishes are in the team’s future. Crew Chief Rick Gay and the team are working hard to make sure Phoenix produces one of those much needed finishes.
  • The FreedomRoads team is taking chassis #1503, a car that has not been raced yet this year. The team took #1503 to the Richmond test last month. It unloaded fast and ran competitive lap times all day.
  • Andretti currently sits third in the Raybestos Rookie-of-the-Year point standings, just five points behind second place, held by Todd Kluever.
  • In 12 Nextel Cup Starts at Phoenix International Raceway, Andretti captured the pole once and the outside pole twice. He finished in the top-10 twice and completed 83.6% of all the laps possible, leading 99 laps. Andretti’s average start on the Arizona 1-mile oval is 18.3 and his average finish is 24.8.

    ANDRETTI AT PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
Friday night’s Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 will be Andretti’s first start at Phoenix International Raceway in the Busch Series, but he has 12 Nextel Cup starts on the Arizona 1-mile oval.

JOHN ANDRETTI ON THE BASHAS’ SUPERMARKETS 200 AND PHOENIX
“I like Phoenix. I love going out there but it hasn’t been the best track to me in the races. We’ve qualified good with a pole and sat on the front row a bunch of times in the Cup car. I wish they wouldn’t have moved the wall off of turn two. It would have given the track more character but for safety reasons is a lot better now. I like the track, I like the area and I like racing there. I’m just hoping this race is kinder to me this time around.”
