Brewco Motorsports begins its 11th year competing in the NASCAR Busch Series. Brewco is coming off its most solid performance in the series, having placed two cars (No. 27 and No. 66) in the top-ten in points (eighth and tenth respectively) in 2005.
This is the first race that Ravenswood Winery will serve as the primary sponsor on Brewco’s No. 27 Busch Series entry. Ravenswood will also sponsor the car for the Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen International Speedway on August 12; and the Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway on August 25. This is Ravenswood Winery’s first NASCAR team sponsorship.
In addition to sponsoring the No. 27 car, Ravenswood will also serve as an associate sponsor on Brewco’s No. 66 Busch Series car in the remaining 2006 races.
Last year in the spring race at PIR, the No. 27 Brewco car started 26th and finished in 14th place.
In seven starts at PIR, Green has one top-five, and two top-10 finishes.
This week’s Associate Sponsor is Bashas’ Supermarkets. Bashas’ Family of Stores was founded in 1932 by brothers Ike and Eddie Basha, Sr. Since then, it has become the largest family-owned supermarket in Arizona and the third largest employer in the state. Bashas is the 15th largest privately-held supermarket chain in the nation. With more than 80 Bashas’ store locations throughout Arizona (including Bashas’ Diné Markets), Bashas’ Supermarkets are located in every county in the state. Additional stores are located in Needles, Calif., and Crownpoint, N.M. Chain-wide Bashas’ has more than 150 locations throughout Arizona.
Opportunities Off the Track:
David Green and Stewart Cooper will take a bike ride and tour the Bourget's Bike Works, Inc. facility on Wednesday, April 19. Bourget is a custom/production motorcycle manufacturer in Phoenix, Ariz., which celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2003.
Green will be participating in the Second Annual Hendrick Charity Ride on Sunday April 23rd, following the NASCAR Nextel Cup race in Phoenix. The annual ride is held as a tribute to Ricky Hendrick, just one of the members of the Hendrick Motorsports Family that perished in the aircraft tragedy of October 24, 2004. The 2006 ride will benefit The Nazareth Children's Home in Rockwell, North Carolina and The Family Center’s (Charlotte) Camp TreeTops Fund. Green participated in the ride last year, which drew more than 1600 participants and raised more $65,000. To participate, or for more information, visit www.hendrickcharityride.com.

Looking Back:
To recognize the history of the NASCAR Busch Series, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2006, each week we’ll take a look back into David Green’s 16-year racing history, as it relates to this week’s track:
Green’s fifth place finish in the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 at PIR in 2002 was his fifth straight top-14 finish and his third top-five of the season in the No. 5 GMAC Chevrolet. Green took over driving duties from Ricky Hendrick on the car early in the fall of 2002. The fifth place finish is the highest of Green’s Busch Series career at the track.
David Green on Phoenix:
“I am very excited to be driving for Ravenswood Winery, and to be a part of their first NASCAR Busch Series sponsorship. I appreciate their choosing to support my No. 27 team. I look forward to celebrating a great weekend in Phoenix, with a lot of interaction with Ravenswood employees and customers. It’s my No.1 priority to tell the world about Ravenswood Winery, show everyone how great their products are, and to show them what Victory Lane is all about on Friday night. My team and I will definitely be poppin’ some corks!
“Phoenix is a short track and an intermediate track all in one! It has a short track personality in turns one and two, and is a speedy version of that in turns three and four. These characteristics mean two totally different requirements for what the car wants and needs, not to mention what the driver needs to do as well.
“PIR is a ton of fun to drive and race on. I love Phoenix! IF your car is working right, you can pass everywhere - and I mean everywhere - and at any time. There are two and possibly three lanes to race on and negotiate every lap.
“Phoenix has been a very good track for me in the past. While a miscue halted the top three run we had going last fall, I am very excited and determined to finish off what we started there. Yes - the competition is stronger and we have had a tough start to ‘06, but I feel like we are getting more educated each week as far as what this new tire and Fusion body wants. All of this data I feel will put us on the fast track at PIR!
“We are bringing the chassis that we won with last year at Pikes Peak. That car has been very strong, stable and consistent for us. Our main focus for the weekend will be to adapt to the new Goodyear tire as quickly as possible. If we can grab a hold of it like I know we can, we will be a contender right off the truck.”
