Sam's Town 250 - Shane Huffman Notes

Huffman and Navy Team Ready to go to Memphis

  • Shane Huffman will drive the JR Motorsports’s No. 88 Navy Accelerate Your Life Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS in Saturday’s NASCAR Busch Series Sam’s Town 250 at Memphis Motorsports Park.
  • Huffman has never raced at Memphis Motorsports Park, but the 32-year-old driver tested at the track in 1999, so he is familiar with the facility.
  • Saturday’s race will mark Huffman’s seventh Busch Series race of the season.
  • Huffman will participate in the NASCAR Busch Series Show Car Parade in Memphis on Thursday. He will drive the No. 88 Navy Accelerate Your Life Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS through downtown Memphis. The parade is schedule to begin at Noon at the corner of Linden and 3rd Street and conclude on Beale Street between 2nd and 3rd Street.
  • Huffman and several members of the No. 88 Navy team spent two days aboard a U.S. Navy submarine during the Busch Series off weekend. The JR Motorsports team members toured the submarine and visited with sailors to see firsthand what life is like in the U.S. Navy.
  • This weekend the team is running chassis No. JRM 022. The chassis was last raced at Richmond where Huffman started 14th and finished 22nd after he was spun out by a competitor.
  • Last weekend Huffman competed in the NASCAR Truck Series Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway. Driving the No. 40 Key Motorsports Chevy Silverado, Huffman started 24th and ran as high as 15th before the engine expired on Lap 90. He finished 35th.
  • In the Busch Series last race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, Huffman started 27th in the No. 88 Navy Chevrolet and finished 39th.

Shane Huffman, Driver, No. 88 Navy Accelerate Your Life Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS
“I’ve had a rough start in the No. 88 Navy Chevy, but we’re looking to turn things around at Memphis. I’ve been to the track before, so I have some experience there, which should help us get started. I want to leave Memphis with a top-20 finish.”

Wes Ward, Crew Chief, No. 88 Navy Accelerate Your Life Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS
“We’re back to short track racing this weekend at Memphis. The track is fairly similar to Richmond and we ran well there despite a few problems. Memphis requires a bit more forward bite and is a bit rougher than Richmond. Shane has tested there in the past, so we won’t have to spend a lot of our practice time getting him acclimated to the track. I’m looking for the No. 88 Navy Chevy to bring home one of our best finishes this weekend.”
