Sam's Town 250 - Cale Gale Notes

CALE GALE
NO. 33 OUTDOOR CHANNEL CHEVROLET
MEMPHIS MOTORSPORTS PARK PREVIEW

GALE DEBUTS IN THE NO. 33: Cale Gale will debut behind the wheel of the No. 33 Outdoor Channel Chevrolet this weekend at Memphis (Tenn.) Motorsports Park. Gale will be making his fourth career NASCAR Busch Series start. Gale will be the seventh driver to sit in the seat of the No. 33 this season. The No. 33 team currently sits 10th in the NASCAR Busch Series owner points standings.

GALE’S RACING BACKGROUND: The 21-year-old, Mobile, Alabama, native Cale Gale has been racing since age four when he first sat behind the wheel of a go-kart. Gale competed at several tracks in the Gulf Coast region, driving Late Model stock cars and the Southern All-Stars Supertruck Touring Series. Most recently Gale has competed in three NASCAR Busch Series events and two ARCA Re/MAX events. Gale won his first ARCA race in July at Gateway (Ill.) International Raceway in just his second career start. Gale has a best start of 10th and best finish of 20th in the three Busch Series events.

KHI ONE YEAR AGO AT MEMPHIS: One year ago at Memphis (Tenn.) Motorsports Park, Tony Raines drove the No. 33 Outdoor Channel Chevrolet to an eighth-place finish. Raines started 30th on the day and battled to the front of the field for a solid top-10 finish. KHI has also competed in three NASCAR Truck Series events at the .75-mile track.

KHI CLIMBS ABOARD A MISSISSIPPI RIVER BOAT: The Dollar General Corpoaration, primary sponsor on the No. 77 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS, has invited the teams from Kevin Harvick Inc. to enjoy an evening on the Mississippi River aboard a Memphis Riverboat cruise. The road crew and race day crew members will climb aboard the Memphis Queen III while in town for the Busch Series event in Memphis, Tenn. The Queen III is one of the newest and finest riverboats in the fleet.

DID YOU KNOW?: KHI’s Charlie Wilson has been very busy over the past couple of months. Wilson has been going to the race track every weekend. He’s been with the Busch car, the Truck and has even been staying for Sunday’s Cup races to observe the No. 29 Cup team and learn some things to apply to the No. 33 team. Wilson’s busy schedule is comparable to KHI crew chief Wally Rogers, who has been calling the shots for either the No. 33 Busch car or the No. 33 AES HR SolutionsTruck each weekend this entire season.

KHI QUOTEBOOK
Driver: Cale Gale
ARE YOU EXCITED FOR YOUR FIRST START WITH KHI? “I’m very excited for the opportunity that Kevin and DeLana Harvick have given me. I’m excited to get to Memphis and be back in a Busch car. Kevin is an outstanding driver and somebody that I can learn a lot from, so this is a good situation for me.”

WHAT IS YOUR GOAL AT MEMPHIS? “The goal for Memphis is just get comfortable with the team and the car. Get laps and finish the race. I know that the guys have a great Outdoor Channel Chevrolet for me to drive. I just need to make laps and the finish will take care of itself.”

Crew Chief: Charlie Wilson
WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS THIS WEEKEND? “The main thing for Cale this weekend is to make laps and get comfortable in the car. He’s got a great group of guys working on the Outdoor Channel Chevrolet and we’ll be able to put a good setup in the car for him. He’s only got three Busch starts to his credit, so laps are the most important thing for Cale this weekend.”

HOW HAS CALE PREPARED FOR MEMPHIS? “Cale has been at the shop everyday for the last couple of weeks. He’s been getting to know the guys and helping out on the cars some. He’s been able to spend some time talking with me and Kevin (Harvick) and (Rick) Carelli. He should be well prepared for this weekend’s race.”
