Milwaukee FastFacts:
Greg Biffle is the only driver to win more than one race at Milwaukee (2001 and
2002). His 2001 win at Milwaukee was the only NBS rookie win at the track.
Casey Atwood’s 1999 Milwaukee win still stands as the NBS all-time youngest
race winner. Atwood was 18 years old, 10 months and 10 days old on the fourth
of July, 1999 when he passed Jeff Green on the last lap to win in his 30th start.
2006 Busch Series Points Race:
1st place Kevin Harvick finished sixth at Kentucky. He was third at Nashville and 13th
at Dover, his worst finish of 2006, and only his second finish outside the top 10 this
season. Dover ended a streak of consecutive top 10s at eight. He was seventh at
Darlington and won his third race of 2006 at Richmond, the 20th of his NBS career,
matching Dale Earnhardt Jr. He has nine top fives and 14 top 10s. Average 2006 finish,
5.1 vs. 8.3 (10 races) in 2005. Harvick has one pole (2001) and one top 10, fourth
(2001), in his two Milwaukee races. He finished 11th in the 1998 NCTS race here.
2nd place (-372) Carl Edwards finished 36th at Kentucky, ending a streak of consecutive
top 10s at eight. Kentucky was his third finish worse than 35th in 2006. Edwards won
his second race of 2006 at Nashville (seventh career victory), and he finished second at
Dover. Edwards won his first race of 2006 at Lowe’s and gained two positions in the
standings. He was eighth at Darlington, but lost a position in the standings to race winner
Hamlin. He has one pole, two wins, eight top fives, and 12 top 10s in 2006. Average
2006 finish, 12.4 vs. 10.8 in 2005. He finished 14th at Milwaukee last year, his first NBS
race at the track. He had three NCTS starts at Milwaukee with a best finish of 15th.
3rd place (-413) Denny Hamlin earned his fourth pole (the most of any driver in 2006)
and finished third at Kentucky. He also gained a position in the standings. Hamlin was
fourth at Nashville and seventh at Dover. He finished 29th at Lowe’s and lost a position
in the standings. Hamlin won his second Busch Series race at Darlington and gained a
position in the standings. He has two wins (Mexico and Darlington), four poles, six top
fives and 11 top 10s. Average 2006 finish, 13.1 vs. 15.6 in 2005. Hamlin started second
and finished sixth at Milwaukee last season, his first race at the track.
4th place (-416) Clint Bowyer finished 12th at Kentucky and lost a position in the
standings. He was second at Nashville and fourth at Dover. Bowyer finished 36th at
Lowe’s and lost a position in the standings. It was his first finish outside the top 30 in
2006. He was 17th at Darlington. Bowyer has five top fives and seven top 10s. Average
2006 finish, 12.1 vs. 11.4 in 2005. Bowyer has two 10th place finishes in his two
Milwaukee races, 2004 and 2005.
5th place (-506) Greg Biffle finished seventh at Kentucky. He was seventh at Nashville
and gained two positions in the standings, moving into the top five. He finished eighth
at Dover, 12th at Lowe’s, and fifth at Darlington. He has six top fives and 11 top 10s in
his 14 starts. Average 2006 finish, 8.8 (14 races) vs. 12.2 (13 races) in 2005. At
Milwaukee, Biffle has two wins, 2001 and 2002, the most of any driver. He also has one
pole (2002) at the track. Biffle finished seventh in 2004, his most recent Milwaukee. He
competed in three CTS races here, winning in 1999 and posting top five results in the
other two.
Race for Second Place: After Carl Edwards finished 36th Kentucky, third place
Denny Hamlin (-41) and fourth place Clint Bowyer (-44) are less than 50 points behind
second place.

The next race will be the 750th in the Series, since 1982.
Tim Sauter’s next start will be the 100th of his NASCAR Busch Series career.
Jason Leffler’s next start will be the 100th of his NASCAR Busch Series career.
Randy LaJoie’s next start will be the 350th of his NASCAR Busch Series career.
Jason Keller’s next start will be the 400th of his NASCAR Busch Series career.

Milwaukee Rookies:
Greg Biffle’s 2001 win came in his rookie season, the only Raybestos Rookie win
at The Milwaukee Mile
David and the Goliaths:
David Gilliland’s Kentucky win in only his seventh NASCAR Busch Series race
is a remarkable accomplishment. Although 34 of the other 114 NBS winners
have won in seven races or less, he is one of only four Raybestos Rookies to win
by their seventh race.
Carl Edwards, 2005, Scott Riggs, 2002, and Johnny Rumley, 1993, also won in
their seventh start. Edwards won at Atlanta in a Roush Racing car. Riggs and
Rumley won at races in which few, if any, Cup regulars competed. Gilliland’s
victory came in a race with eight NEXTEL Cup full-time drivers, in cars that are
fielded by their Cup teams. These eight drivers had accounted for nine wins in
the first 15 races of 2006; all 15 races were won by Cup regulars. Furthermore,
no driver not affiliated with a Cup team had won in 29 races dating back to David
Green’s win at Pikes Peak, July, 2005.
Of all the statistics regarding this victory, the most impressive is the fact that the
Hype Manufacturing team is a brand new race team, having made its debut at Las
Vegas in March where Gilliland started last and finished 38th. In only its sixth
race, the team was able to overcome incredible obstacles to conquer the giants of
the NASCAR Busch Series.
