Carfax 250 - Rookie Post-Race Quotes

Where the Raybestos Rookies finished at Michigan:
O’Quinn Jr. 20th
Andretti 30th
Kluever 38th
Lamar 39th

TODD KLUEVER, No. 06 3M PERFORMANCE FINISH FORD: “The trainy broke again. Obviously, I’m doing something wrong. I don’t know how I’ve went as far as I have in my racing career the way I have been to the transmissions the last couple of weeks. We had a mediocre day going, to be honest with you. I thought we had a pretty decent car, a car that could have run further up in the front. The unfortunate part is that every time we have a good car we can’t qualify well. It’s so hard to work your way all the way through traffic in these kind of races. It’s just disappointing. We had a really good 3M Fusion and didn’t get the job done, I guess.”

DANNY O’QUINN JR. IN THE No. 50 WORLD FINANCIAL GROUP FORD WAS THE RAYBESTOS ROOKIE OF THE RACE AT MICHIGAN.

Note:

  • O’Quinn Jr. finished 20th and took top rookie honors for the fifth time this season.

O’QUINN JR.: “It was a decent finish. We had about a 20th-place car and that’s where we finished. From where we were in practice yesterday was a big gain. The car definitely had potential. We can work on it for California. I’m kind of excited that we got some laps in here and think we’ve got a pretty decent piece to start off with. If we can go to Fontana and unload 20th, unlike we unloaded here at 30th or 35th, we can build on that a lot more. That will definitely be a good thing for us there. The guys gave me good stops and everything all day. We just fought a little aero problems behind cars. We’ll work on it and get it better.” THE NEXT RACE IS BRISTOL. THAT’S YOUR HOME TRACK AND YOU HAVE LAPS THERE IN A BUSCH CAR. “Bristol has always been one of my best tracks. We had one of our best finishes of the year there earlier in the year. I’m excited. I think we can go up there and go for it. We’ve probably got our best shot of running in the top-five or even winning a race. Bristol would probably be the place if there’s anywhere. I’m excited about that. It’s my hometown and there’s a lot of things going next week.”

JOHN ANDRETTI, No. 10 RVs.COM/FREEDOM ROADS/CAMPING WORLD FORD: “We knew when we started the weekend that we were kind of up against it. We fought the car in both practices really. In the race we got it better at times. The car wouldn’t go a little bit off the edge, it would got a lot one way or the other. The guys did a great job just hanging in. Some days are just like this. It’s easier to have a bad day than a good day in this series, or any series [smiles].” NEXT WEEK IS BRISTOL WHERE YOU HAD ONE OF YOUR BETTER RUNS THIS SEASON. “I don’t care to go to Bristol at all, to be honest with you. All they do is crash cars and tear up things. It’s great to watch. It’s not good to own one, it’s not good to work on one, it’s not good to drive one there as far as I’m concerned. Rooting and gouging is great to watch but it just tears a lot of stuff up. If we can stay out of trouble we always run good there.”

BURNEY LAMAR, No. 77 DOLLAR GENERAL CHEVROLET: “I don’t know. We had the race won last night and blew a tire. I had a good racecar today and drug the oil pan off it.”
