Mark Martin, driver of the No. 6 Pennzoil Fusion, won the pole for Saturday’s Carfax 200 at Michigan International Speedway. This is Martin’s 29th Busch Series pole, a new record in the NASCAR Busch Series.
MARK MARTIN – 6– Pennzoil Fusion – TALK ABOUT BREAKING THE BUSCH SERIES RECORD FOR THE MOST POLES TODAY. “It’s okay. I’ve been pretty lucky and have had a lot of good cars to drive over the years and the chance to win a lot of races in good cars and that really makes a lot of difference. That run today was not a great run, but it was a really great car. It made up for my shortcoming.”
WHEN THE CLOUDS ARE OUT LIKE THEY ARE TODAY, DOES THAT HELP PUT UP HIGHER SPEEDS? “It makes all of the cars faster and it stayed overcast throughout the whole session, so I don’t think that it was a big difference in the draw.”
THIS HAS GOT TO GIVE YOU MOMENTUM GOING INTO THE RACE LATER THIS AFTERNOON. IT’S BEEN EIGHT BUSCH STARTS SINCE ROUSH HAS HAD A WIN HERE IN THIS SERIES. “We have the best race car I’ve driven in a long time here today, so I am kind of excited about today’s race. I really like the car and I love this race track. It should be a lot of fun today.”
