Las Vegas oval suited to Tim Sauter’s style
Tim Sauter and the McGill Motorsports team travel north from Mexico City to Las Vegas to run the Sam’s Town 300 on March 11th, where Tim hopes to rebound from last weeks’ 30th place finish. The fast 1.5-mile speedway just outside of Sin City has been to Tim’s liking. In two previous starts at Las Vegas Tim has a 15th place average finish and has completed 399 out of a possible 400 laps.
“I have been fortunate to have some good cars at Las Vegas in the past, and I think Ricky and the crew will have our Chevy ready for this weekend,” said Sauter. ”I think the McGill Motorsports team has grown over this first month of the season, and we are going to have a real strong run for Lester Buildings,” he said in a confident tone. "We are taking the same car we tested last month. I’m really looking forward to going back, we learned a few things about what this car needs, and I’m sure we will be able to pick-up some time from the test.
Crew chief Ricky Pearson added, “I’m really looking forward to going back to Las Vegas and see how much we have improved this car. We picked up speed from the Daytona test to the race, and the guys in the shop have been working hard, so I’m optimistic we can do the same this weekend. Carl Wegner has a great powerplant for us this week, if we can get the car to roll through the center of the corner, Tim will be able to use that power.”
The middle of the three Sauter brothers who will be competing this weekend currently stands 19th in the 2006 NBS standings. Tim would like to put the Lester Buildings Chevy in front of the pack and better his 15th place average finish for John and Nancy McGill this weekend.
This will be Tim’s 87th career start in the NBS and 92nd career NASCAR start.
All three Sauter Brothers will attempt to make the Sam’s Town 300.
This will be the third time Tim has competed at Las Vegas in the NBS.

March 2002 – Sam’s Town 300 - Finished 17th, started 26th
