    Mark Martin Knows Lowe’s: Mark Martin had nine DNFs in his 11 Lowe’s races prior to driving for Jack Roush. In his most recent 15 races in the #60 he finished in the top four 13 times. Five of his record six wins at Lowe’s were recorded during a streak of 10 consecutive races in which he scored all top four finishes; from the second race of 1993 to the first race of 1998 he had five wins, three second place, one third place, and one fourth place finish.     Lowe’s FastFacts:
    Kevin Harvick has not had a top 10 finish the last three Lowe’s.
    Ryan Newman’s October Lowe’s win was his fifth win in five consecutive starts during 2005 (not in consecutive races).
    In May 2005, Kyle Busch won at Lowe’s from a 19th place start. The race had the most drivers in the lead lap of any Lowe’s Busch (28).
    The last three Lowe’s have had double digit cautions, including the Lowe’s record 14 last October. Only two of the previous 45 Lowe’s had double digit cautions.
    The 2005 Busch pole winners at Lowe’s did not fare well. Spring pole winner Kasey Kahne went out after 52 laps due to an accident and fall pole winner Jimmie Johnson lasted only 29 laps before an accident claimed him.

    2006 Busch Series Points Race:

    1st place Kevin Harvick finished seventh at Darlington. It was his seventh consecutive top 10 finish. He won his third race of 2006 at Richmond, the 20th of his NBS career, matching Dale Earnhardt Jr. He finished second at Talladega and won his second consecutive race of the 2006 season at Phoenix. He won at Nashville, finished eighth at Texas, second at Bristol and 11th at Atlanta, his only 2006 finish outside the top 10. He has eight top fives and 11 top 10s. Average 2006 finish, 4.3 vs. 5.3 in 2005 (eight races). He has two top fives and five top 10s in 10 Lowe’s NBS races. Harvick has not cracked the top 10 in his last three Lowe’s, finishing 11th (10/04), 11th (5/05), and 24th (10/05).

    2nd place (-347) Clint Bowyer finished 17th at Darlington. He was seventh at Richmond, fifth at Talladega and 21st at Phoenix. Bowyer was second at Nashville, 18th at Texas, 12th at Bristol and 14th at Atlanta. Bowyer has two top fives and four top 10s. Average 2006 finish, 11.6 vs. 10.6 in 2005. Bowyer has one top 10 at Lowe’s, 10th (10/04), in his first race at the track. He finished 32nd (5/05) and 33rd (10/05) at Lowe’s in 2005.

    3rd place (-379) Denny Hamlin won his second Busch Series race at Darlington and gained a position in the standings. He is the only driver besides first place Kevin Harvick to win more than one race in 2006. Hamlin finished 10th at Richmond. He was 30th at Talladega and dropped a position in the standings for the second consecutive week. It was his third finish worse than 29th in 2006, his second consecutive. Hamlin was 39th (accident) at Phoenix, his first DNF of 2006. He won the pole and finished third at Nashville. He won the pole and finished 10th at Texas, gaining a position in the standings. He finished fourth at Bristol and 38th at Atlanta, his first 2006 finish outside the top 20. He has one win (Mexico), two poles, four top fives and six top 10s. Average 2006 finish, 13.8 vs. 15.4 in 2005. In his only Lowe’s NBS races, Hamlin finished 20th (5/05) and 30th (10/05).

    4th place (-386) Carl Edwards finished eighth at Darlington, his fifth consecutive top 10 finish, but lost a position in the standings (to race winner Hamlin). Edwards was sixth at Richmond, 10th at Talladega, third at Phoenix, fifth at Nashville. He has one pole, five top fives, and nine top 10s in 2006. His best 2006 finish is third, two times, at Phoenix and California. Average 2006 finish, 13.2 vs. 7.9 in 2005. He finished 35th in the first 2005 NBS Lowe’s, fourth in the second, his only two races at the track.

    5th place (-455) Kyle Busch finished sixth at Darlington and gained a position in the standings, moving into the top five. He was ninth at Richmond, third at Talladega, 12th at Phoenix, and 30th at Nashville. He has three top fives and six top 10s. Average 2006 finish, 14.9 vs. 26.5 in 2005. He has two wins and four top five finishes in five NBS Lowe’s. He won the first race of 2005 (his second consecutive spring victory), but he finished 41st (transmission) in the second race. 12

    Kevin Harvick’s lead over second place of 347 points is the biggest points lead in the Busch Series after race #12. He is more than halfway to the biggest- ever season winning margin of 616 by Jeff Green over Jason Keller in 2000. Green’s margin after 12 races in 2000 was 83 over second place Todd Bodine.
