Lester Buildings driver hopes to build on momentum for another strong run. The NASCAR Busch Series heads to the heart of the nation this weekend to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Tim Sauter and the McGill Motorsports team bring momentum from last weeks season best 14th place qualifying effort and 19th place finish at Martinsville. Sauter is hoping he can duplicate the top-ten finish he had at Gateway in 2002.

Ricky Pearson and the McGill team have been working hard to improve the handling of the cars for Sauter. It has paid off over the last few weeks and Sauter can feel the changes. “It’s such a difference, particularly in the center of the corner. I really think we’ve found a tenth or two, we just need to keep working hard and finding where we can continue to improve the overall package.” The team is bringing a totally re-built car to St Louis this weekend.

The oval at Gateway is a very unique “egg shaped” track with the first and second corners much tighter radius than the third and fourth corners. The track poses challenges to the crews to get their cars to handle at both ends of the speedway. With the tight corners a strong motor is key to get momentum out of the corners and down the straightaway. Tim knows that getting through the corners is key at Gateway, “The key to going fast at Gateway is to get the car to handle at both ends of the track, the corners are so different, it’s almost like it has three corners. You can’t overdrive it into the corner you need to use the brakes a lot.”

Lester Buildings will be holding it’s annual dealer meting in St Louis this weekend and Sauter will have over 300 additional fans rooting for him this weekend. Tim is looking forward to show the Lester Buildings dealers what the team is capable of. “A little good luck and we would have had strong finishes the last two weeks, maybe this week it will all work out and we will give all the guests from Lester Buildings a good finish.”

There are 50 cars pre-entered for the Busch Silver Celebration 250. The green flag will drop at 8:00 ET on Saturday, July 29th and will be televised live on TNT.

This will be Tim’s 105th start in the NBS and 110th career NASCAR start.

All three Sauter brothers will attempt to make the Busch Silver Celebration 250.

Tim is currently 24th in the NBS driver point standings.

This will be the third time Tim Sauter has competed at Gateway in the NBS. Best Finish: 10th on July 20, 2002.

Tim’s thoughts on the Gateway International Raceway: “I really like racing at Gateway, it’s a real drivers track, even though it’s a mile and a quarter, it drives more like a short-track. You need a lot of brakes in one and two, and a big motor to get you down those long straights.”

This will be the third time McGill Motorsports has competed at Gateway in the NBS. Best Finish: 39th on July 30, 2005 with Stanton Barrett Driving.
