Busch Silver Celebration 250 - Clint Bowyer Notes

CLINT BOWYER
Gateway a Favorite Track for ACDelco

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (July 25, 2006) – Facts are facts. ACDelco has more wins at Gateway International Raceway than any other NASCAR Busch Series sponsor. The division of General Motors Service and Parts Operations has claimed wins at four of the nine Busch Series races at the 1.25-mile oval, with drivers Kevin Harvick and Dale Earnhardt Jr. each winning twice. Harvick took the checkered flag for RCR in 2000 and 2001, while Earnhardt Jr. captured wins for DEI in 1998 and 1999.

Bowyer knows the history behind ACDelco. The Emporia, Kan., native wants to be the next driver to give them a win at their most successful track as he competes in the Busch Silver Celebration 250 on Saturday night. On good thing is they have got history on their side.

After dominating races for the last two weeks and not taking home the win, Clint Bowyer and the ACDelco Real Car Guys are headed to St. Louis, Mo., on a mission. They want to get another win for ACDelco and secure their first victory of the 2006 season. Bowyer said, “ACDelco owns that track. They have a lot of wins and if it wasn’t a win, then it was a top-10 finish. I can’t wait to get there and bring the victory back for our entire ACDelco team. We have been really close the last two weekends and I want to get one for the guys.”

Points of Interest…

  • What Ya’ Haulin’…The Real Car Guys will take chassis No. 41 to Gateway International Raceway this weekend. The ACDelco team has raced this chassis twice this season at Nashville Superspeedway, capturing two top-five starting positions and two top-five finishes.
  • Track Stat…Bowyer has raced twice at Gateway. He started and finished 12th in 2004 while driving the RCR No. 21 Chevrolet, then went on to race the ACDelco Chevrolet in 2005 and finished eighth after staring 17th.
  • Unleaded Fuel…NASCAR Busch Series race teams will run unleaded fuel this weekend for the first time in NASCAR history. NASCAR has decided to test the new fuel at the next four NASCAR Busch Series races. After completing the four races, NASCAR will analyze the outcome and decide on possible future use.
  • Start Time…Saturday’s 200-lap event at Gateway International Raceway is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). Live television coverage of the Busch Silver Celebration 250 will begin on TNT at 8:00 p.m. EDT, with live radio coverage at the same time on your local MRN radio affiliate and XM Satellite Radio–channel 144.
  • Points Chase…Bowyer held on to third place in the NASCAR Busch Series driver’s points chase after his second place finish at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway this past Saturday. He is currently 402 points behind his teammate and points leader, Kevin Harvick, and 54 points behind second place Carl Edwards.
  • Quiet Weekend…Bowyer will not be pulling double-duty for the third and final time this season. He will be at Gateway focusing on his ACDelco Chevrolet rather than shuttling back and forth between the Busch and Cup Series garages as the Cup teams have a much-deserved weekend off.
  • Why ACDelco Brakes?...Outstanding durability - ACDelco DuraStop® Brakes are designed to help resist corrosion and last long. Extra quiet - You won’t hear much from these high-quality brakes. Excellent warranty - ACDelco brake pads and shoes carry a limited lifetime warranty. A limited parts warranty of 12 months/12,000 miles comes with the rest of the ACDelco brake line. Check with your ACDelco Parts Retailer for more details. The most thoroughly tested brakes in the aftermarket industry - ACDelco continues to apply the most rigorous test practices in the aftermarket to its DuraStop Brakes. DuraStop was one of the first aftermarket lines to be tested and validated by Dual Differential Dynamometer Effectiveness Analysis (D3EA).

Clint Bowyer on Gateway International Raceway… How nice will it be racing only one series this weekend? “I have to admit it’s going to be weird not jumping back and forth between the Busch and Cup cars. I’ve gotten used to doing that this season and I think we’ve adapted well to it. I don’t think it’ll make a huge difference, but it’s going to be nice. I’m just excited about this weekend because we’ve been knocking on the door of our first win and I think we just might get it at Gateway.”
