Diamond Hill Plywood 200 - Kenny Wallace Notes

Kenny Wallace
#22 AutoZone Ford Fusion
Diamond Hill Plywood 200
Darlington Raceway / Darlington, SC
Friday, May 12, 2006

KENNY WALLACE / #22 AUTOZONE RACING TEAM FAST FACTS:

  • Kenny Wallace has finished in the top-10 eight times and finished in the top-5 four times in 21 starts at Darlington Raceway. He also finished second in his last Darlington start in May of 2005 for ppc Racing.
  • The #22 AutoZone team will be running chassis #24 this weekend at Darlington; #24 is the same car that Wallace ran in Nashville in April, where Wallace finished eighth.
  • Wallace currently sits 14th in the NASCAR Busch Series driver point standings, holding steady after a 23rd place finish in Richmond last Friday night.

KENNY WALLACE ON RACING AT DARLINGTON: “I have always liked Darlington from the first time I got there. It’s a very unique track, very narrow. It seems to fit my driving style even in the (NASCAR NEXTEL) Cup Series I’ve got some top 10s in the Southern 500 and a lot of history there. I like going to Darlington because I can get in my pick-up truck, grab an iced tea and a bag of sunflower seeds and I can be there in less than two hours so it puts me in a good mood just going there.”

KENNY WALLACE ON COMPETING IN BOTH RACES AT DARLINGTON: “It’s always an advantage to get more time on the track. I’ve been racing there since 1989 and now that we only race there one time a year, I’ll be able to have a lot more practice before the (NASCAR) Busch Series race starts. Darlington really hasn’t changed except for the soft walls so always thankful to get a little more track time.”
