Brewco Motorsports begins its 11th year competing in the NASCAR Busch Series. Brewco is coming off its most solid performance in the series, having placed two cars (No. 27 and No. 66) in the top-ten in points (eighth and 10th respectively) in 2005.
The No. 27 car will run a special Huggies® CleanTeam paint scheme at Daytona and at the second race of the season in Fontana, California. Kimberly-Clark Corporation recently launched the Huggies® CleanTeam bath and body product line, which features letter-shaped characters called Alphamals. The new range of hygiene products are geared toward helping moms teach their toddlers how to keep clean, while having fun at bath time, meal time, potty time, or on-the-go.
This season Kimberly-Clark begins its 13th year as a sponsor in the NASCAR Busch Series, making it the longest continual team “primary” sponsor in the Series.
This week’s Associate Sponsor on the No. 27 car is Walgreens Drug Stores. “The Pharmacy America Trusts®” was founded in 1901 in Chicago. Today, there are more than 5,000 Walgreens stores in 45 states and Puerto Rico. With annual sales of more than $42 billion, Walgreens serves 4.4 million customers daily.
The No. 27 Huggies® CleanTeam will be running Chassis #6327 in the Hershey’s Kissables 300.
To prepare for the Daytona race, David Green and the No. 27 Brewco Motorsports team tested at Daytona International Speedway from January 20 through 22, 2006.
Green pulls double-duty of sorts: After he competes in the Hershey’s Kissables 300 on Saturday, Green will spot for Bobby Labonte in the Daytona 500 on Sunday. Labonte will drive the No. 43 Cheerios-Betty Crocker Dodge entry from Petty Enterprises. Green and Labonte have been friends and business partners since 1989 when they met that July at a NASCAR Busch Grand National race in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Green previously has spotted for former NASCAR champion Dale Jarrett.
David Green on the 2006 season:
“I have never been as excited to get our season started than I am for 2006! With Kimberly-Clark’s continued support, and now with our Huggies® CleanTeam paint scheme, we’ll have the coolest looking Ford Fusion on the track. To also be able to kick off Anheuser-Bush’s 25th anniversary of being our series sponsor is quite a feeling for my team and me.
“When we wrapped up 2005, I was very proud of (crew chief) Stewart Cooper and my whole Kleenex® Team on the great job they did all last year. It was like I really didn’t want the season to end. But over the winter the guys built new Ford Fusions and really did their homework. I think this preparation will propel us into being a weekly top five team and in the chase for the championship.
“Thanks to everyone at Kimberly-Clark and all of their great products, my team and I are better prepared than ever before. This is our year!”
Green on Daytona International Speedway:
“Daytona is always special because it’s our first race after a long winter and it’s a race that every driver needs on his resume as being a winner there, so I am hungry for a Daytona win! Daytona is a very challenging because of the narrowness of the track, and the pavement has lost about all of its grip. This means that you better be able to handle all day long. Your car needs to be able to hug that yellow line all the way around and have good grip.
“Daytona will not lock you in as a championship contender, but a good solid run is what everyone shoots for and can propel a team toward a solid foundation for the year.”
Crew Chief Stewart Cooper on the Hershey’s Kissables 300:
“We made a lot of changes to the car after the Daytona test and would expect good things come race time on Saturday. The guys are pumped up and ready to go.”
