Brewco Motorsports begins its 11th year competing in the NASCAR Busch Series. Brewco is coming off its most solid performance in the series, having placed two cars (No. 27 and No. 66) in the top-ten in points (eighth and 11th respectively) in 2005.
The No. 27 car will run a special Huggies® CleanTeam paint scheme for the second time in the 2006 season. Kimberly-Clark Corporation recently launched the Huggies® CleanTeam bath and body product line, which features letter-shaped characters called Alphamals. The new range of hygiene products are geared toward helping moms teach their toddlers how to keep clean, while having fun at bath time, meal time, potty time, or on-the-go.
This season Kimberly-Clark begins its 13th year as a sponsor in the NASCAR Busch Series, making it the longest continual team “primary” sponsor in the Series.
This week’s Associate Sponsor on the No. 27 car is Stater Bros. The company was founded in 1936 in Yucaipa, California, and has grown steadily through the years to become the largest privately owned supermarket chain in the state. With annual sales in 2005 of $3.4 billion, Stater Bros. currently operates 163 supermarkets and employs more than 17,000 people.
David Green has nine starts at the California Speedway, with two top-ten finishes and a top-five to his credit. Last year the No. 27 finished on the lead lap in 14th place.
Green has never posted a DNF at the Fontana track.
After the Stater Bros. 300, Green will spot for Bobby Labonte in Sunday’s NASCAR Nextel Cup race, the Auto Club 500. Green spotted for Labonte in last Sunday’s Daytona 500.
David Green on California Speedway:
“California is Las Vegas on steroids! It’s a two-mile flat track that’s very challenging. It’s easy to over drive and can be slippery at times. The wind that usually surfaces there literally pushes the car into turn one, and it forces the driver to be very precise on entry.
“Over the years the track has lost a lot of grip, but it’s still a wide two-to-three lane race track with plenty of areas to pass – if your car is working. It’s a must to have the best horsepower under the hood and have the most grip in your car for the corners.
“After we tested this year in Las Vegas, the Brewco Motorsports team identified the car we wanted to take to California, versus what we ran in previous years.
“The momentum we generated towards end of 2005 - especially on the one-and-a-half-mile tracks has me very pumped up to drive to the front in Fontana.”
