Food City 250 - Tim Sauter Notes

Tim Sauter Returns to Bristol
Lester Buildings team looks to improve on 21st place finish from spring race

In the most anticipated race since the season opener at Daytona, the NASCAR Busch Series returns to the action-packed Bristol Motor Speedway for the Food City 250. A crowd well in excess of 100,000 is anticipated to watch the action under the lights on the high-banked half-mile speedway in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains.

Tim Sauter returns to the drivers seat this weekend after a two-week absence and Lester Buildings will again adorn the quarter panels of the McGill Motorsports Chevy. Sauter and the McGill team finished 21st at the spring Bristol race and are hoping for even better results this weekend. “We were just a tick off here in the spring and we got caught in a questionable call on pit-road that got us down a lap, but we were able to get a “lucky dog” and turn it into a lead lap finish,” said Sauter. “I think this team has learned a few things at the last couple short-track races that will make us more competitive this time around.”

One of the strangest days in NASCAR history came at the March race at Bristol when two separate delays for snowstorms halted the days events. The forecast for this weekend should prove to be much more pleasant with temperatures predicted in the mid eighties. “The weather at the spring race here was just unbelievable. I really don’t think we will see snow in August, it looks like a chance of rain, but that sure beats snow!” Sauter said with a smile.

Sauter added, “I’m really excited to get back in the seat to represent Lester Buildings and Bristol is a great place to come back to. I’m going to try to keep the fenders on this thing and get the McGill team a top fifteen finish.”

There are 46 cars pre-entered for the Food City 250. The green flag will drop at 7:30 ET on Friday, August 25th and will be televised live on TNT.

  • This will be Tim’s 107th start in the NBS and 112th career NASCAR start.
  • All three Sauter brothers will attempt to make the Food City 250.
  • Tim is currently 25th in the NBS driver point standings only 18 points out of 24th.
  • Tim has an average finish of 16.8 in five previous Bristol races.
  • This will be the sixth time Tim Sauter has competed at Bristol Motor Speedway in the NBS. Best Finish: 9th on March24th, 2001.

Tim’s thoughts on the Bristol Motor Speedway: “As a driver you wait all year for this race, I know the fans in the stands will be pumped up for some Bristol beating and banging this weekend.”

  • This will be the sixth time McGill Motorsports has competed at Bristol Motor Speedway in the NBS. Best Finish: 15th on March 27th, 2004 with Steve Grissom driving.

Affordable primary sponsorship is available on the McGill Motorsports Chevy Monte Carlo SS for four of the remaining races on the 2006 NBS schedule. Interested parties should contact John McGill at 440-914-4206, or visit mcgillmotorsports.com to learn more.
