Leffler has a combined total of 10 career starts at Bristol Motor Speedway in Busch Series, Nextel Cup and Craftsman Truck Series competition.
In the March Busch Series event at Bristol, Leffler, driving the No. 32 entry, was running in the top-five before a blown tire on lap 115 ended chances to contend for the win. Ironically, the blown tire was a result of running over the tailpipes that had fallen off the No. 38 Great Clips car, then driven by AJ Foyt IV.
In six (6) career NASCAR Busch Series starts at Bristol, Leffler has two top-20 finishes.
Leffler turned in his best career performance at Bristol in the 2003 Craftsman Truck Series race, posting a 9th place finish after starting from the 17th spot.
Leffler is currently 13th in the NASCAR Busch Series point standings.
LEFFLER GROWING TO LOVE BRISTOL:
“There is no race on the circuit more challenging, both physically and mentally, than Bristol. As a driver you either love it or hate it. When I first started racing in the Busch Series, I hated going to Bristol because I just couldn’t find much success there. But over the last couple of years, I have really come to enjoy racing there and feel like I continue to improve each time. Going back this weekend after the strong run we had in the spring, I am probably more confident than I have ever been about our chances to be a top contender.”
LEFFLER ON THE VIRTUE OF PATIENCE AT BRISTOL
“With 43 cars starting the race on a half-mile track, there are a lot of things happening all at once. You have to be on top of your game every second of the race and know what’s going on around you every lap. Everyone says that patience is one of the keys to success at Bristol, but with everyone beating and banging each other that can be a pretty tall order. You just have to get yourself in the right frame of mind before you climb into the seat.”
LEFFLER ON THE IMPORTANCE OF QUALIFYING AT BRISTOL
“Putting down a strong qualifying run that allows you to start up front is probably one of the most important things at Bristol. If you can start up front, you are going to see a lot less trouble than you would starting mid-pack or from the rear and you better your chances of keeping your car in one piece for the final laps.”
EQUIPMENT INFORMATION:
The No. 38 Great Clips team will compete with chassis # 22 in this weekend’s Food City 250. This is the same car Leffler drove to a 10th place finish earlier this season at Darlington.
