ANDRETTI LOOKS FORWARD TO SHORT TRACK RACING UNDER THE LIGHTS
Andretti is looking forward to Friday night’s running of the Food City 250 because he knows he’s got a car that can finish well! In his first Busch Series event at Bristol Motor Speedway this March, Andretti and the #10 ppc Racing team captured their first top-10 of the season, finishing ninth, with teammate Kenny Wallace finishing eighth. Andretti is the only rookie to ever finish inside the top-10 in their first Bristol start.
The RVs.com/Camping World team is taking chassis #5718 to Bristol Motor Speedway. This is the same car Andretti raced to his ninth-place finish this spring.
Each week since taking the lead in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year point’s race, Andretti is making the gap even bigger. After the Michigan race last weekend, he now leads second-place Burney Lamar by six points.
After a rocky run in Michigan, Andretti lost one spot in the point standings but still has 10th place in his grasp. Andretti now sits 12th, just 101 points away from the 10th position, held by ppc Racing teammate, Kenny Wallace. The #10 team is 15th in series owner point standings.

Saturday’s running of the Food City 250 will mark Andretti’s second Busch Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Andretti also has Cup Series experience on the .533-mile bullring. In 17 Nextel Cup starts, he finished in the top-five twice, finishing second in 2001.

“Bristol is really fun if you are a fan but if you work on a car, drive a car, or own a car, it can be a nightmare! Bristol is a crap shoot. You might have a good run one race and then crash out the next 15 races. I think if we can keep our car in one piece then we will finish really well. If we get caught up in something, that will be pretty normal for Bristol. Fast race cars stay out of trouble easier. That’s not always the case at Bristol but hopefully it will be the case this week and we can get another strong finish there and then move on to Fontana.”
