Nicorette 300 - Tim Sauter Notes

Atlanta Pre-race Notes

Tim Sauter ready for NASCAR’S fastest track

After three straight weeks west of the Mississippi, the NASCAR Busch Series stays closer to its southern roots this weekend with the running of the Nicorette 300 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Following a strong run last week in Las Vegas, Lester Buildings driver Tim Sauter is excited get back on the track and shake off the disappointment of last week’s late race wreck that ruined a probable Top 15 finish.

“I feel good, I was really shocked that I wasn’t bruised more than I was. I’ll look-up John Andretti and see how he’s doing when we get to Atlanta, it was such a hard hit,” Sauter said reflecting on last week’s highlight crash on lap 160. “I just want to get right back in the car and show everyone we can do it again. John McGill has a vision to grow this team into a contender and last week we were doing just that. To come back and run well at Atlanta would prove this team is headed in the right direction.”

The McGill Motorsports crew has built a new car for the race in Atlanta this weekend and Crew Chief Ricky Pearson is excited to see the car on the track. “I think we’ve taken some of the things we learned from the Las Vegas test and the first two “downforce” races and have applied them to this car,” said Pearson. “It takes so much time to put these cars together and there’s nothing better for the guys in the shop than to see their hard work running well at the track. A strong run this weekend will really help our position in the points and help us forget about the car we lost at Las Vegas. The crew really wants to get another strong run for Lester Buildings!”

Although this weekend’s race is just outside of the area in which Lester Buildings are currently distributed, the company feels that the Atlanta audience is a good one to showcase their products. “Lester Buildings wants to stand out in our industry which for the most part tends to fly under the radar. Our goal is to build awareness with the vast consumer building market. Being partnered with classy professionals like McGill Motorsports and Tim, who along with his brother Johnny, owns one of our buildings, is a uniquely powerful way for Lester to stand out,” explained Tom Borgman, Lester’s Director of Marketing.

• This will be Tim’s 88th career start in the NBS and 93nd career NASCAR start. • All three Sauter brothers will attempt to make the Nicorette 300. • Tim had a top-10 finish in an ASA (American Speed Association) race at Atlanta in 2004 with Sponsor Lester Buildings. • This will be the fourth time Tim has competed at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the NBS. March 2001 – Aaron’s 312 - Finished 34th, started 15th. October 2002 – Aaron’s 312 - Finished 32nd, started 16th. October 2003 – Aaron’s 312 - Finished 26th, started 29th.

Tim’s thoughts on Atlanta Motor Speedway and the Nicorette 300: “As luck has it, I’ve never had a great finish at Atlanta but the way we ran last week I’m really looking forward to getting to the track and seeing how this new car runs.”

• This will be the third time McGill Motorsports has competed at Atlanta in the NBS. October 2004 – Driver; Stanton Barrett, - Finished 24th, started 27th. March 2005 – Driver; Stanton Barrett, - Finished 26th, started 26th.
