    Jon Wood Quotes
On Talladega: “I’ve been going to Talladega since I was old enough to walk with my father’s race team, but this is the first time I’ve ever had the opportunity to race there. I’ve raced a Daytona, and my father said Talladega is a little easier for the driver. The big secret is making your car as small as possible in the air. It’s so aero-sensitive. You want to make the smallest hole possible in the air and keep the car down against the apron because it’s the shortest way around.”

On the season: “We brought a new car to Phoenix and we probably should have tested, but this is the first week that we've struggled this year. To struggle and finish 18th and run as bad as we did, I think we’ll be fine. You can’t run good every week, and these guys are doing such a good job that I’m not going to complain. If we’re still a top-20 car on a bad week, it bodes well for the rest of the season.”

    Crew Chief Jay Guy
On Talladega: “You spend as much time preparing a car for Daytona and Talladega as you do for half of the other tracks on the Busch Series schedule. You have to start with the basics, and then you spend hundreds of hours messaging the car to make it as sleek as possible. After that, you turn it over to the driver and the spotter and hope he picks the right line of traffic in the draft – and he stays out of the big crash that always seems to come with restrictor-plate racing.”

    Jon Wood’s Season Highlights
    Best Starting Position: Fourth (Atlanta)
    Best Finishing Position: Eighth (Texas)
    Most Money Won: $42,310 (Daytona)
    Laps Led: One (Nashville)
