O'Reilly Challenge - Jon Wood Notes
ST Motorsports No. 47 Team Notes
Jon Wood Quotes
On Texas: "I've been looking forward to coming back to Texas since
we were there in April. We qualified seventh there and finished eighth,
and that came after we got knocked to the back by another car midway in
the race. What I like about Texas is the way you can be aggressive,
especially in the second turn. If you can make your car turn there
without riding the brakes, it will be a good lap."
On the season: "The last three races have been the epitome of our
entire season. We had two Top-10 finishes in a row and we were running
in the Top 10 last week at Memphis when we blew a tire and hit the wall.
Our cars have been good and getting better as I gain experience, but we
just can't find any racing luck. As long as we keep running in the Top
10, things eventually will fall into place. I know one thing for sure:
This Clorox/Wisk team won't give up."
Crew Chief Jay Guy Quote
On Texas: "While it may look like Charlotte and Atlanta, Texas has
its own set of challenges. Unlike Atlanta which has a lot of racing
grooves, the best way around Texas is along the bottom. And unlike
Charlotte which seems to change during every tire run, Texas stays
pretty consistent. It's a fast, fast racetrack and your car has to roll
freely through the turns. You want your car to launch off the second
turn, and you can't do that if you have to tap the brakes to get the car
turned in the right direction."
