O'Reilly Challenge - A.J. Foyt IV Notes
O’REILLY CHALLENGE
FOYT IV LOOKS FOR A STRONG RUN IN HOME STATE - Foyt, driving the No. 38 Great Clips Dodge, will make his second NASCAR Busch Series start in Saturday’s running of the O’Reilly Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway. Foyt, a native of Hockley, Texas, posted a 10th-place finish at TMS in 2004 while running in the IRL IndyCar Series.
FOYT’S THOUGHTS ON TEXAS - “I’m really looking forward to returning to Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. It will be nice to be back in my home state and have my family around to support me this weekend.
“We tested at Texas a few weeks ago and everything went really well. There are a lot of differences that I noticed between the IRL IndyCar and the Busch car. With the Busch car, you have to back out of the throttle earlier going into the corner and you have to use the entire racetrack to get the most out of your car.
“I know that Great Clips won here in the spring with Kasey (Kahne) so hopefully we can back that up this weekend.”
TWO WEEKS AGO AT MEMPHIS - Foyt made his NASCAR Busch Series debut two weeks ago at Memphis Motorsports Park and unfortunately his chances of a victory vanished when he made contact with the wall on lap 38. The team had to make several pit stops to repair the rear fender damage. A multi-car wreck on lap 212 collected Foyt’s No. 38 and took him out of the race and he would finish 40 laps down in 32nd. The Great Clips team is now in the 21st position in the NASCAR Busch Series owner point standings.
CHASSIS INFORMATION - The Great Clips team is taking chassis No. 46 to Texas Motor Speedway as the primary car. Earlier this month, Foyt tested this car at the 1.5-mile speedway. Car No. 36 will be the backup; this is the same car that visited Victory Lane at Texas earlier this year with Kasey Kahne behind the wheel.
FREE HAIRCUTS - Great Clips is offering complimentary haircuts this weekend at the Motor Racing Outreach Fitness Trailer, which is located inside the Driver Motorhome Lot, adjacent to the NEXTEL Cup Garage. The hours of operation are as follows: Friday, November 4 (10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.) and Saturday, November 5 (10 a.m. until 1 p.m.).
