Kahne Wins Busch Race Down in the Heart of Texas
Kasey Kahne made a late-race pass and then held on to win the O'Reilly 300 on Saturday afternoon at Texas Motor Speedway. Kahne, who started from the 25th position, passed rookie Reed Sorenson with six laps to go, just before the day’s final caution flag would fly, setting up a two-lap shootout at the end of the race. Kahne was then able to hold off a hard-charging Greg Biffle by .304 seconds to score his first Busch Series win since 2003 and the second of his career. Kahne led the event twice for a total of 47 laps and received the 10 bonus points for leading the most laps during the race. Biffle, who led the event four times for a total of 32 laps, ended up in second place despite problems with his car jumping out of gear. Sorenson finished in the third spot for the second straight race, giving him three consecutive top-three finishes, and holds on to the second position in the points, 76 points behind series leader Carl Edwards, who finished fourth at Texas. The O'Reilly 300 Busch Series race featured a record-setting 17 lead changes among 10 drivers and was slowed nine times for 37 caution-flag laps.
