Emerson Radio 250 - Ryan Moore Notes
MOORESVILLE, NC -- Ryan Moore will attempt his second NASCAR Busch Series race for Dale Earnhardt, Inc. this weekend at Richmond International Raceway.
Moore, 22, from Scarborough, Maine had a successful run his first time out in the No. 81 Oreo/Ritz Chevrolet. After qualifying 17th at New Hampshire International Raceway, he ran in the top-10 and top-20 before being taken out by another competitor.
Since then, Moore has won another NASCAR Busch North Series race giving him two for the season. He has finished in the top-five three other times for a total of six top-fives and eight top-10s. With three races left in the Busch North season, he stands fourth in points.
"The biggest things I learned last time at New Hampshire is what it takes to race in the Busch Series," Moore said. "Racing on the radial tires, the longer run and how hard you have to race on every lap was a good experience. I learned a lot of good things in that race.
"When I did my qualifying run, I was kind of cautious because I just wanted to make the race. During the race, I was out to earn the respect of my peers and not be a problem. I think I accomplished that for the most part, too."
In preparation for the Emerson 250 at Richmond, the No. 81 Oreo/Ritz team tested the .75-mile track for two days last week. Tony Eury, Sr. will be the crew chief, just as he was at NHIS.
"We had a good test and had the car dialed in pretty much right were we wanted," Moore said. "All we have to do is some fine tuning here and there when we go back this weekend. Practice is going to be very important for us because we qualify and race all in one day.
"Tony Sr. and the rest of the guys on this team really know how to prepare a car. I can't thank them enough for their hard work. This time we hope to qualify in a good spot for the people at Kraft. They've been very supportive of our efforts and they deserve a good show and try for a top-10 finish at Richmond."
