Emerson Radio 250 - Jon Wood Notes
ST Motorsports No. 47 Team Notes
Jon Wood Quotes
On Richmond: "We had a great car at Richmond last May, but we
learned a big lesson there: Even when you're good, you have to be lucky.
We got caught up in somebody else's crash, and that's something you have
to watch there. The track is so fast and there's really only one racing
groove, especially down in turns one and two, so it's easy to an
innocent victim of somebody else's problem. If we're as good as we were
in May - and stay out of trouble - we should have a solid Top-10 run."
On the season: "It's great that we're going back to tracks for the
second time because we're a lot better prepared. I know what to expect.
More important, I have a little more experience to know what the car
needs at certain tracks. As we continue to grow as a team, we'll
continue to show improvement."
Crew Chief Jay Guy Quote
On Richmond: "You have to approach the race in stages. You start
while it's still hot. The track will be slippery. Then as it cools, the
track will gain traction. By the end of the night, it will tighten up,
making it hard for the cars to turn. You have to set up for the third
segment. You want the car to be manageable in the first segment so it's
a little easier to drive in the final segment when it counts the most.
The more you're on the edge early in the race the better you'll probably
be at the end. Of course, you have to be sure you don't go over that
edge and get too far behind."
