Emerson Radio 250 - Ford Post-Race Quotes
JASON KELLER-35-McDonald's Big Mac Ford Taurus (Finished 38th) - WHAT DID YOU SEE FROM YOUR PERSPECTIVE? "A lapped car got turned right in front of us there and the spotter called the wreck, but unfortunately by the time I got there the lapped car turned down the race track and started down. It's really unfortunate that you had some lapped cars that really just couldn't stay in the bottom lane. That's what caused all of that. It was an accident waiting to happen."
KENNY WALLACE-22-AutoZone Ford Taurus (Finished 31st) - WHAT DID YOU SEE FROM YOUR PERSPECTIVE? "Erin Crocker is a good little race car driver and somebody turned her. Sometimes you start out and some cars on the lead lap have new tires and some lapped cars have new tires, and it was just a case where everybody just got into each other. I'm a little bummed out. My AutoZone Ford wasn't really the way I thought it would be. The track changed a whole bunch from day to night and we were a little too tight."
CARL EDWARDS-60-Charter Communications Ford Taurus (Finished 28th) - WHAT HAPPENED TO PUT YOU BEHIND THE WALL? "That was a big surprise. We were doing our best to make the most of Martin Truex's bad luck, and it looks like J.J. (Yeley) just got a little loose. It's so easy to do here, and J.J. is a great guy and I know he didn't mean to do it."
MATT KENSETH-17-Waste Management Ford Taurus (Finished 3rd) - "We were a little loose off of the corner. Paul had a great race, and I had a great race with Mark and all of those guys. We had about a second- or third-place car on the long run, but we jus couldn't get by Paul. He did a great job, and it was tough to pass on the bottom. I was happy. I haven't raced the Waste Management for a couple of months and the car ran third. It was good."
ELLIOTT SADLER-90-CitiFinancial Ford Taurus (Finished 6th) - DID YOU LEARN SOMETHING FOR TOMORROW NIGHT? "I think we learned a lot tonight. We learned what to do with air pressure and things on the pit stop that we can adjust to make the car better, and also learned what not to do to make it worse. Tires were important tonight. I had fun and we came back and finished sixth. We wanted to win, but we'll take a sixth and we learned something for tomorrow night." WAS TONIGHT'S RACE A CONFIDENCE BOOST FOR TOMORROW NIGHT? "I think we're going to be all right. My Cup car was a little better anyway, so I'm just looking forward to tomorrow night."
STACY COMPTON-59-Kingsford/Bush's Baked Beans Ford Taurus (Finished 16th) - "The guys did such a good job with the car after practice. We were a 40th-place car in practice, and in all honesty, we were a top-10 car tonight. We just got hot and had to pull the tape off. As soon as we pulled the tape off we started plowing and that's just the way it goes. I hate it, but we still had a good finish. We needed it. It wasn't what we hoped for, however, because normally we come here and run in the top five every time. But, we needed a decent run tonight and we had a good race car. We didn't have the finish that we wanted, but we had a good race car. I'm proud of the guys with this Kingsford Ford. We'll keep digging and we'll get our feet on the ground, and I think this is going to be a good race team before it's all said and done." WE'RE YOU SURPRISED BY ALL OF THE LATE CAUTIONS? "No, this is Richmond and that's what you expect when it gets down to the end."
MATT KENSETH PRESS CONFERENCE
TALK ABOUT THE FINAL FEW RESTARTS AND TRYING TO PASS MENARD ON THE LOW GROOVE. "He was up high and the top was a little better. It was kind of tough to pass on the bottom, so if somebody is running the top you have to try to pass them on the bottom and we were just too loose to get it done down there. It was tough to pass, and Paul had a really good car. We were just a little bit quicker; we had a little bit newer tires on than he did. Overall it was a great run. We made a lot of adjustments tonight. We started off our first run terrible and we backed way up and got real tight and was able to fix it and get it halfway decent at the end."
