Emerson Radio 250 - Brent Sherman Notes

BRENT SHERMAN - NOTES & QUOTES
ppc RACING NO. 10 SERTA FORD TAURUS
EMERSON RADIO 250 - SEPTEMBER 9, 2005
RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY

SHERMAN’S HISTORY AT RICHMOND - Brent Sherman will drive the ppc Racing No. 10 Serta Ford Taurus in Friday’s Emerson Radio 250. It marks his second attempt at the track. Driving the No. 58 Glynn Motorsports Dodge, Sherman did not qualify for the Funai 250 in May.

ppc RACING AT RICHMOND - In six years of NASCAR Busch Series competition at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway, ppc Racing has compiled an impressive record. The organization has recorded two wins, two poles, six top-five and seven top-10 finishes. With drivers Jeff Green and Scott Riggs, the No. 10 team has one win, two poles, three top-five and four top-10 finishes and led 219 laps at the track.

CHASSIS INFORMATION - The No.10 Serta team is running chassis No. ppc 36 in Friday’s race. The car was last on track at Bristol Motor Speedway for the Food City 250. The team will have chassis No. 1007 on the hauler as a backup for the event. The chassis was also the backup last month at Bristol.

SHERMAN ON RACING AT RIR - “I didn’t make the race in May, which was pretty disappointing. This time around though, I’ll be with a different team and a different crew chief. They’re giving me every opportunity to be successful, so we’ve just got to capitalize on that this weekend. I haven’t had much luck at short tracks this year, but I’m hoping to change that at Richmond.”

CREW CHIEF TIM SHUTT ON FRIDAY’S RACE - “The race should be a good challenge for the Serta team. Qualifying times are always pretty tight there. I’ve run well consistently there in the past. It’s a pretty neat track. Short track racing under the lights always makes for a good race.”

CREW CHIEF TIM SHUTT ON WORKING WITH SHERMAN - "We’re learning a lot of the things that Brent needs in order to go fast, and as we continue to get them implemented, our finishes should continue to improve throughout the rest of the season.”

HOUSTON BACK ON TRACK - Team spotter Andy Houston is scheduled to compete in Thursday night’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race in the No. 40 Chesapeake, Va., based Key Motorsports entry. Since 1997, he has competed in more than 120 Craftsman Truck Series events, picking up three wins, 27 top-five and 51 top-10 finishes.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY - Car chief/front tire changer Rick “Fuz” Burgdoff will celebrate his 33rd birthday on Wednesday, Sept. 7, and team engineer Parker Grove will celebrate his 26th birthday on Wednesday, Sept. 14.

LAST RACE - Last Saturday at California Speedway, Sherman started 31st and finished 24th in the Ameriquest 300.

EVENT INFORMATION - Qualifying for the Emerson Radio 250 is scheduled for 4:35 p.m. EDT on Friday and will be broadcast live by Speed Channel. Race time is set for 7:50 p.m. EDT and the event will be televised live by TNT and broadcast by MRN Radio.
