Harvick Dominates in Richmond Busch Series Win
Much like last Friday night’s activities in California where Carl Edwards won the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup pole position, then hours later, won the Busch Series race to top off the perfect day; today was pretty much the exact same thing for Kevin Harvick at Richmond. Harvick won the pole for the Cup race and followed that up by winning the Busch Series race under the lights at RIR. Harvick was dominant in this, his 16th career NASCAR Busch Series win in his 126th start, leading a race-high four times for a total of 149 laps. In the end, the race came down to a green-white-checkered finish, where Harvick pulled away from a hard-charging Paul Menard to win by 0.672 seconds for his third win of the season in his 10th start. He also won at Bristol in the spring and at Chicagoland. Menard, who battled with Harvick for the lead late in the race, kept Matt Kenseth at bay to record a second-place finish, his best finish of the season, while Kenseth settled for third. It also continued Menard's impressive run of 11 top-10 finishes in his last 13 races and continues to solidify his position in the top 10. Mark Martin finished fourth after starting on the pole for the 28th time in his career, which ties him for the record of most career poles in the series. Rounding out the top five was Jason Leffler, who improved on his season best finish of seventh last week at California. The night was not a positive one for points leader Martin Truex. Truex, who was involved in an incident late in the race, finished 27th on the night and saw his championship lead dwindle to just 94 points over second-place Clint Bowyer, who finished 11th. With a top-10 finish, Reed Sorenson regained third place in the standings, 311 points behind Truex. Carl Edwards and Wallace round out the top five in championship standings.

Martin Roars to Busch Series Pole at Richmond
Mark Martin led the only practice Friday morning for tonight’s Busch Series event and not surprisingly, laid down a very fast lap during the qualifying session to capture the Busch Pole for the Emerson Radio 250 at Richmond International Raceway. Martin qualified his Red Apple Group Ford Taurus in 21.220 seconds, at an average speed of 127.238 mph, to win his 28th career NASCAR Busch Series pole position. Martin’s teammate Carl Edwards will join him on the front row of the starting grid after Edwards qualified in 21.272 seconds – at 126.927 mph. Another Roush teammate Matt Kenseth will start from the third position, while Elliott Sadler starts fourth, giving Ford a sweep of the top four positions. Jason Leffler rounds out the top five on the starting grid.
