Salute to the Troops 250 presented by Dodge - Justin Labonte Notes

Labonte/Haas U.S. Coast Guard Racing Pikes Peak Pre-Race Report

Justin Labonte, driver of the U.S. Coast Guard Shield of Freedom Chevrolet, will make his 60th NASCAR Busch Series start when the green flag drops for the ITT Industries, Systems Division and Goulds Pumps Salute to the Troops 250 presented by Dodge at Pikes Peak International Raceway Saturday July 23rd.

LABONTE ON PIKES PEAK. "I've been to Pikes Peak once before a few years ago and didn't have that great of a run; I'm sure this time around will be different. After the past few weekends we have had we are just looking to finish the race and get a good finish to back that up. I'm excited to be working with Harold Holly, he has a great record in the NASCAR Busch Series, and I think he'll do great things with this team. We made a change to help better the team, and sometimes you just have to make a change when things aren't going as well as planned. We've had our share of problems that were beyond our control this season. The team has worked really hard all season to give me great cars and hopefully our finishes will get better as the year ends."

PIKES PEAK NOTES OF INTEREST

  • Labonte-Haas Motorsports will utilize chassis 220 for the running of the The ITT Industries, Systems Division and Goulds Pumps Salute to the Troops 250 presented by Dodge. This is the same car the Labonte and the team ran earlier this season in California and both Nashville races.
  • This will be Justin Labonte's second NASCAR Busch Series start at Pikes Peak International Raceway.
  • Labonte will be making an appearance on Thursday morning at NORTHCOM headquarters. He also will be hosting the Coast Guard liaison, Capt. Rich Rendon, for NORTHCOM at Peterson AFB, and Chief Randy Otis, the 13th Coast Guard District Enlisted Person of the year from USCG Group-Air Station North Bend, Oregon.
