Arizona 200 presented by Walk the Line - Rookie Qualifying Notes
CARL EDWARDS IN THE No. 60 CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS FORD WON THE BUSCH POLE FOR THE ARIZONA 200.
Edwards won his fourth career Bud Pole in his 35th career Busch Series start. This is the sixth pole for the Raybestos Rookie class in 2005 (Reed Sorenson has two).
Edwards is the third Raybestos® Rookies to win the pole for the fall race at Phoenix. Kyle Busch (2004) and Jason Leffler (2000) are the others.
Denny Hamlin claimed the second starting spot, giving the Raybestos Rookie class the first all-rookie front row in seven fall races at Phoenix.
Prior to today, Sorenson was the most recent Raybestos® Rookie to win a pole position in the Busch Series. He took the top starting position for the Aug. 6 Kroger 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park (race No. 23).
Edwards continues to lead the chase for Raybestos® Rookie of the Year, holding a four-point advantage over Reed Sorenson (325-321) entering today’s Arizona 200. The battle for 2005 Raybestos® Rookie of the Year remains the closest in the history of the program.
