Arizona 200 - Jon Wood Notes
ST Motorsports No. 47 Team Notes
Jon Wood Quotes
On Phoenix: "I love the kind of racetracks where you can really
hang the car out. Phoenix is the classic reward/risk track. You can be
aggressive with your setup and your driving style and be rewarded. But
if you go too far, you face a big risk. There's a real fine line between
good and bad there."
On the season: "We consider our rookie year to be a success. We've
had good cars; we've run up front. At the same time, we've made some
rookie mistakes. It's all part of the learning process. But overall,
we've really laid solid groundwork for the future, and I'm very glad to
be part of that future. Although we have two races left this year, I
can't wait for next year."
Crew Chief Jay Guy Quote
On Phoenix: "Jon is right: You can really be aggressive with your
car at Phoenix. You have to keep the car pointed straight as it goes
through the corners. That means, you have to keep the rear wheels
tracking directly behind the front wheels. If the back end comes out or
the front end wants to plow, you're going to lose time. But there are
different ways to solve that, and one of the most important is the
driver. He can change his line or change his braking points, and that
can have a dramatic affect on the car."
