Federated Auto Parts 300 - Nashville Superspeedway

Bowyer Wins Rain-Delayed Race at Nashville
Weather played havoc with the schedule of the Federated Auto Parts 300 at Nashville Superspeedway. First a lengthy delay on Saturday night, then a postponement to Sunday, the event would be ran at the same exact time as the Nextel Cup race. That would throw a monkey wrench into a few drivers’ plans to run in both races, mainly the point’s leader of the Busch Series Carl Edwards. Edwards, who has held the points lead since the fifth race of the season, lost his lead with the drop of the green flag. For 26-year-old Clint Bowyer, who was winless in the NBS, it was his time to shine. Clint Bowyer won his first NASCAR Busch Series race in his 32nd career start; this was his fourth series start at Nashville Superspeedway. Bowyer’s previous career best finish was third here at Nashville in the June race last season. Bowyer has four top-five finishes in his four NASCAR Busch Series races at Nashville Superspeedway. Bowyer led the event four times for a total of 70 of the event’s 225 laps. Bowyer is the 10th different winner in 15 races in 2005. He is the fifth driver to win his first NASCAR Busch Series race this season, joining Tony Stewart (Daytona), Carl Edwards (Atlanta), Kasey Kahne (Texas) and Reed Sorenson (Nashville spring race). Bowyer has three top fives and eight top 10s in 15 NASCAR Busch Series races this season. Unofficially, he is tied for second in the point standings with reigning series champion Martin Truex Jr., (1,975) 51 points behind Sorenson (2,206). Carl Edwards is now in fourth (1,930), 96 points behind, but Edwards still can hold on to the hope of Sam Ard, who won the 1984 NASCAR Busch Series title running 28 of the 29 races that season.

Busch Race at Nashville Postponed Until Sunday
The NASCAR Busch Series Federated Auto Parts 300 at Nashville Superspeedway has been postponed due to inclement weather. The event will start on Sunday June 12, 2005 at 1:00 pm ET and will not be televised live. The race will instead be shown following the NASCAR Nextel Cup event on the FX nextwork.

Rain Wipes Out Qualifying, Edwards Gets Top Starting Spot
NASCAR Busch Series points leader Carl Edwards was granted the top starting position for the Federated Auto Parts 300 at Nashville Superspeedway after qualifying was canceled due to rain. With the cancellation of the qualifying session, the field was set in accordance to the NASCAR Busch Series Rule Book, giving Edwards the top starting spot for the fifth time this season. Youngster Brandon Miller, who shares the No. 21 car with Kevin Harvick, will start from the second position, while defending series champion Martin Truex Jr. will start third. Aaron Fike, who shares the No. 66 Ford with Greg Biffle, will start from the fourth spot while Clint Bowyer will start fifth. Tropical Storm Arlene is heading in the direction of the Nashville area, so the race is in jeopardy as well.
